Just read the CARD statement. Can't see much wrong with it tbh. It doesn't matter whether or not you like Rick, I'm fed up with Roland dumping on us from a great height, and Murray is colluding with him, so let's get it on.

But the question remains, why now ?
I have been gently goading Heather etc and CARD for months on what has happened to their remaining donations. They “decided” (not sure who decided, or who elected them to speak for other fans) to suspend protests to give Robinson a chance. ‘They’ have now - rather ridiculously in my view- demanded the highly unpopular Murray come into the car park and face the Ramsgate Rabblerouser, armed no doubt with his famous megaphone.

There must be a 95% chance that Murray will ignore this - and they know it. It’s all been
done to enable self congratulations and “you forced him out” backslapping when that “imminent” takeover we were promised, is complete.

Trust CARD to jump back in the bath just when Duchatelet has pulled the plug out.

Everitt has just posted this below. In terms of self importance, it’s in a different league <doh>

It's about time protesting fans had another get-together outside the Valley.

Nobody has to be part of it if they don't want to be. Those who don't want their match-day experience spoiled can just walk by.
And anybody who wants to organise an anti-CARD counter-demonstration is welcome to do so. I would really enjoy seeing that.

I agree @lardiman , the car park protests which FHB, DP and I among others attended from Day 1 were excellent, and should never have stopped.

Remind me who chose to stop them thru reasons of self interest ? Yep - that slaphead from Ramsgate who is nothing to do with CARD.

Yes, I was not happy about that either.

A fair amount of water has flowed under the bridge since then however. Now that the supremely divisive Meire has quit, I'm content to set aside my past differences with the Coalition's self-appointed 'high command' and join in a protest demonstration if they are finally calling another one.

Fans were promised that past mistakes had been learned from. But now when it matters most, our manager (love him or hate him) has not been backed by the Regime but has instead been hung out to dry. There was never any intention by the Board to back him or a promotion push, it was all lies, lies, lies.
We have given the manager and the team every chance this season, in a last act of trust towards the Regime that they would finally do the right thing for once.

Instead, KR and his squad have been betrayed and treated with the same shoddy disrespect as Charlton's loyal fan base - loyal to the history and values of CAFC - not to a bunch of bungling suits who know nothing about English Football, or their self-serving entourage.

Time to stand up for our team - what's left of it that is.

CL posters are by no means unanimous in their support of this protest. It may well be a damp squib, too many absentee fans. The only decent protest in the last couple of seasons was led by B20, CARD's influence now is questionable to say the least.

I'm all for making things uncomfortable for this lot, but do fans seriously expect any truth from Murray ..? He's not going to admit that he's reluctantly been hanging on to RD's coattails for 4 years because getting his money back has always been the be-all and end-all for him.

Duchatelet isn't going to reveal any truth to his stooge either.

I don't thing the aim of the protest is to get any answers from Murray. if he did show up, and if he were allowed to talk, and if he told the truth (all three are increasingly unlikely), what does anyone expect. 'Roland is tired of Charlton and it's peasant following, he just wants to leave taking as much money as possible and forget about you yokels'? We know that anyway, and Murray isn't going to say it anyway. The idea I assume is to try to galvanise some sort of show that we are sick of Roland and his unrelenting firesale of a club he will hopefully cease to own shortly. Sometimes you have to stand up and make your feelings know. After the Holmes saga ('no, I don't want a player in part exchange, just bundles of fivers') it seems time to kindle the wrath.

WUM of the first order!
Give us a break FFS!
Done anything yourself to oppose the regime other than sit behind your keyboard slagging those who at least TRY to be proactive?
I’d be interested to know.

They haven’t tried to be proactive. When was the last effective CARD protest?

It appears the CARD call for a protest has galvanised Richard Murray into action - presumably with the intention of shooting their fox...

https://www.castrust.org/2018/01/cas-trust-meeting-with-richard-murray/

There is no mention in this very brief report of when this CASTrust meeting with Mr Murray will be taking place.
If the meeting is not held until it is too late for the outcome to be broadcast to fans in general, then I think the protest on Saturday should go ahead regardless - as a meeting timed to coincide with the demo (or even an hour or two beforehand) is obviously just a tactic to try to take the edge off the fans' anger and sway some of them into not bothering to attend.

If Richard Murray is going to meet with CASTrust he should do it later today or before close of business tomorrow, so the Trust has plenty of time to make public what he has to say before Saturday afternoon.
Then supporters can judge for themselves whether or not to attend the demonstration, and also if they feel that Murray's answers or his stance is not satisfactory they will have the Trust evidence to back up their case.

Yes, I agree it would be best for everyone to be able to see a recording of the meeting - which will only be between three people;

Richard Murray and the Chair & Vice Chair of CASTrust.

So there will be no need for theatrics by either party, and if any are attempted they will be seen for what they are.
Some straight questions and straight answers would surely be welcomed by all Charlton fans.
I don't suppose that will happen though.
If the Club won't publish the minutes at least in good time, we will have to rely on the Trust's report.

Better that though than nothing at all.
