Richard Foster

Flint maybe. He looks like a leader and perhaps its about time we give it to someone who we can take on the role for the foreseeable future. Flint has a 4 year contract and if he is lives up to expectation then we can have a great captain.

We need someone to captain NOW not for the future we have no idea what sort of a captain he might make we will have to wait for S O'D to decide but at least the new signings should ensure that Fonts is no longer captain.

apart from tigger and banksy I don't know anyone who thinks he's any good

Good is a bit heavy but I would have been happy to see him have one more season to see if he could settle, he has great pace and you cant question his commitment. I see Rangers fans have mixed views too.

I certainly dont think he's anywhere near as bad as some make out on here.

I agree with that assessment of Foster. Better than many realise and always appeared to me to give 100%.

I am one of the few that valued Foster as well, full of energy and effort, did fight for the cause and a dam sight better than some of the sweaty socks we are stuck with..

I will give it to him he put in 100% every game, never seem to be a character who moaned wherever he was played..

But i still get nightmares of him turning his back on crosses, backing away from wingers so they get have the freedom of bristol to put a ball in the box, his lack of attacking threat, how useless he was with the ball, poor crossing and how he couldn't tackle and everytime he got the ball it would mysteriously be 10 foot in the air all the time..

Apart from those small criticisms, would you say he's a valued Bristol City player?

I echo what lan has said there. 100% agree.

A nice bloke and he always gives 100% but I don't see what he is? At RB in front of me at the EE when ever someone attacks at him I cant watch. All he does is watch the ball and stay about 4/5 feet away to let the player do what he wants CLOSE HIM DOWN FFS!. Then when he attacks he reminds me of Ivan Sproule. All speed and no finish. I'll wish him good luck like every player but he is one of the reasons we went down. Poor signings that just aren't up to it.

Shame in a sense but he is/was too much like Fontaine you can cope with one defender standing off and not closing down but not two especially when your midfield is so porous that the opposition just floods through.

That's what a defence is for hawk. If they get past the midfield then the defenders are suppose to stop them. Foster didn't...

I liked Foster. He always did his job, not particularly well, but he'd do it without fuss and wouldn't drop his head in doing so. If some of our other players had his attitude we might have not gone down by such a pathetic margin.

That being said, I'd be happy to see him go if he doesn't want to play in League 1. I'd say it's more his level, but it sounds like he'd be happier at Rangers.

Well he is heading back to Scotland to play in a league probably lower than L1 but probably on better pay after all Rangers are a very large fish in a very small pond up there. Will be interesting to see whose shirt he is wearing for the friendly.

I thought Foster was ok - however it's good to get a higher earner out so that we can freshen up things (and we have Maloney at right back anyway)

Can I remind everyone (again) that Fontaine had a poor season last year, but he's done well for us in the past - maybe he deserves another chance, but please please please can we get behind our players
