that is true there are an interesting variety of shots that are played given the field positions and the ability to predict the ball will be in a certain slot.

Can anyone tell me if young players really want to bowl any more... i mean 10 overs in odi where you are in effect playing the roll of the robot ball chucker isn't exactly that you sign up for is it?

I don't know why the rules now need to be SO restrictive. anything above a certain height is counted as a wide. if you chuck a ball barely down leg its a wide... its like why not just put a machine out there for them.]#

I get the tactical bowling thought people will just bowl 6 bouncers..

I woudl expect Cook to ask for the same again. I would normally have a ticket for trent bridge....but missed out this summer

unlucky...

I wuld imagine that it should be. borad did fine as well.. some dangerous stuff. but i think wood can get up to 90mph no? finn and wood might be enough on a lively pitch given the holes in the aussie batting which are shocking.

Thats why some ODI batsmen/bowlers just cant adjust to test cricket and the reverse. Some of the bowing in ODI cricket is very inventive, mixing line, pace and swing to bust a batsmans rythm.

But then you step up to Johnson bowling at 90MPH at off stump then your throat and its a different game....same for many test players facing the shorter for veriety

If the Aussies can make England chase 150 or so it could be interesting

47 ahead

I think the chase will be about 100, they are going to try and knock finn/broad out of the park, keep letting them play and wickets will come.....already had a nevill edge fall short

why are we not putting spin on here and get a bit of turn doing just like lyon... why not save the big lads for the new ball :bandit:

I'd rather they aussies hack at ali and make a mistake than us use up our faster guys.

Plus, the new ball is 20 overs away!

17 over til new ball?

I'd get fast off and try spin now. give 5/10 overs and see what happens... they are scoring enough as it stands that why not?
