Tell me about it, played Saturday, captain lost the toss, we had to bad on a damp(ish) pitch with loads of cloud cover and a decent 10mph wind, ball was swinging all over the shop...
We're all out for 112..
They bat, pitch now dry, wind drops and clear skies and we struggle to get 4 of them out...

I digress..

Derail Warning <yikes> This is 'The Test Match Thread'

Formerly.

Sadly not any more, my weekends are now golf themed rather than cricket! Still an avid watcher of the true beautiful game though.

And my sons will be taught how to play.

Any regular players on here of this great game?

Used to be rather handy. Grappenhall (when Neil Fairbrother was a lad), University 1st 11, Combined Universities 1st 11 (Paul Downton was captain) and Cheshire. Bowled off-spin and batted anywhere between 4 and 7. Best figures 7 - 42 against Loughborough University, which got me to Bisham Abbey for the CU coaching course. Back went eventually, which didn't bother my then wife, the cow.

Anyone mention golf... [Derail Alert..]
Play a wee bit myself...

We had some pretty good players in my age group when I was playing league cricket.

Ronnie Irani played for Heaton and went onto Lancs, Essex and England
Warren Hegg played for Tonge and went onto Lancs and England
Karl Krikken was Astley Bridge and went onto play for Derbyshire.

They all had long county careers and I used to play club and school cricket against them. Sadly, I was not as good.

Two other notable names were Gary and Phil Neville, who were younger but played for Greenmount in my league. As did their dad, Neville!!

We used to get some superb pros in the Bolton league too, test match Indians, Windians and occasional Aussies.

Damn decent standard that...
Had nets with Ramps when I were a lad, the old man wanted me to take it seriously but was too much into Girls and Football at 16-18, missed the chance to get on any of the local counties books.
Played decent level Sunday Cricket for best part of 20 years, started out as a bowler that could bat, but after many ankle, knee and back issues, now a batsman that can bowl.
Best bowling figures of 5-27 (which helped us stay up that year), Best batting of 111 (damn you Nelson!!) but that was many moons ago!

My old captain at university is the Chief Exec at Notts CCC. Top bloke is Derek.

No we don't, it gets discussed in various threads as truth be told it's just him and me so we'd be uber sad having our own thread.

This thread is nice to have a bit of golf chat if Jonny B wants to join in. <ok>

Stop talking about golf FFS [Where you playing?]
Cricket only in this Thread please! [Correct, its a bloody bastard of a game, love and hate it in equal measure!)

We are playing a course Bransford Golf Club, in Worcestershire..

I do like my golf.. not sure i love it yet as it pisses me off quite a lot. Though I dont like a weekend to go by without it involving golf.

I used to play cricket for a local team havent played for 10 years though havent played properly since i was 16.. I was a batsmen that could bowl a bit.. No one like facing me as I bowled medium pace off cutters with some normal off spin thrown in and could bowl a leg break but was never really very accurate where it ended up.. That said the league i played in when i was 22 which was the last time i played I bowled a county second 11 player twice by bowling off breaks then a leg spinner.. the ****er hated me as i was essentially ****.
