typically silly ending down to over eager despite bags of time that a generally positive approach could have at least got a little closer.

stokes run out is really stupid. but hey "that's bazzball" as the excuse.
 
3rd test is mildly interesting.

duckett has scored as such a rate that there 45 overs left with this ball so england have a shot to get to parity tomorrow but i expect the usual collapse.
 
Good test so far. Good knock from duckett to put us evens atm. Get up close to them is important and put the pressure on them to set a target

if someone else gets a century or he doubles up sure.

right now we are chasing parity and can't eliminate the chase of a very quick skittling to leave us over 100 behind.

it's a good start but India dug in at 3 down and got two tons. we need more scores to even this up.

the fast scoring rate gives hope that its possible rather than a fast skittling.

a fast skittling it is then.

the usual drivel propped up very briefly by a stokes 41.

huge lead given to India who can now go win the game again.

playing positively is fine. there's players in that side who can't defend anyway like Crawley but to pick people who are horribly out of form is not positive cricket.

no chase at all. it will be a whitewash.

a quick 30 or 40 by the openers each then failure.

bairstow shouldn't be there.

roots place should be under threat.

After that is quite mixed as well so really they have got their win on the subcontinent but should be easily beaten

We won the first test so won’t be a whitewash but 2-1 defeat if happens isn’t the worst

just in this test I mean. we will be walloped from here. India have declared with a massive lead and just said OK go on then show me bazzball

winning one with 2 untried spinners etc isn't too bad but you want to see players play to strengths.

duckett and Crawley have done well attacking and attacking as they can't hold a wicket but root has been useless as he won't play to his own strengths which is 1 and 2s around the fringes and keep the strike going.

let's see how bad it goes as India have probably put too many on out of fear of baseball (thst old stupidity and arrogance I hear from commentators, they fear us while we lose badly)

root got sacked for these.

stokes and jazz have picked players out of form like an in crowd bunch of mates here and got a proper hiding

we are in a test arena against the best in the world playing root as spinner while his batting is ****, watching bairstow flounder about living on form of 2 years ago. add in playing two very inexperienced spinners and it kind of adds up.

let's not even mention wood and Anderson who can't bowl for more than 4 or 5 overs.

Who else are you picking instead? We’re hardly steeped in quality throughout the county game.

Well, it's like this.

Crawley and duckett have done enough to play. Neither are openers who can hold a wicket but they can swing and attack and get 30 or 40 or more if it works.

Pope had one big innings.

Root needs to be given a serious talking to as he needs to score singles and park the stupid stuff, he was never that good v spin anyway.

Brook is not there but bairstow is, why?

Stokes has to get back to work, if he's not an all rounder then he has to improve his batting. Harsh but its reality that if he can't bowl he has to deliver with the bat. He's done ok but nothing major and not consistently.

That's 6 batters.

Then there's the age old wicket keeper conundrum. Flakes has the gloves but the likes of bairstow and formerly good butter are selected to bat. In truth form is a massive issue.

The reality with the ball is England have two untried spinners who have not been back at home so have to learn. It's the usual England thing of 5 seamers and part time spin disease.

Anderson is shot. If you can't get 15 to 20 overs out of a medium pace seamer and he can't bat then all the former glories in the world won't matter if a batsman stands there and sees off the 4 or 5 overs he has in the tank.

Wood is similar, massive pace, great heart, zero stamina.

Woakes did alright for the ashes but is a bit of a crock too. Robinson is a crock.

So it's not easy but the dilemma for me is breaking the selection of favourites that's now crept back into England.
 
England very mixed so far. Its unknown what kind of score might be par here.

root has finally shown up and foake is backing him for a little bit.

Stokes, fails, pope fials, ducket fails.

Crawley gets a crawley score and bairstow gets a start and then out.

once one more goes here its into a collapse as per so really these two have to get the score above 200.

big big danger now of not getting back set. root has made a good go and is on 67 but his flow is now interrupted and he needs to survive the first half hour. foakes needs to stand there and lock in.

England need to get to 300 and then have a right go at them.
 
foakes gone and hartely in 233/6

root still there so the only question now is how long can they others stand there for while root scores what he can.
