Crawley 22 is a bit behind what we want out of bazzball but its only 18 odd runs. Not ideal to not get the next guy at least settled in before you.

crawley was under serious pressure there though. didn't know whether he could leave any of it.

They could get run though now. arch and cummins are 1000% more dangerous

Was an encouraging start (albeit with couple dropped chances) but 3 quick wickets put australia in driving seat now.

Its fine.

If you are bazzball fans then all you can ask is 40 or 50 off anyone before the get done. Crawely and duckett were both riding their luck previously so we got 41 off ducket.

roots had his worst series for a little while here. thats another failure. he's basically hit his own stumps so its not like its a unavoidable ball like the last game.

Brook is out there basically living on nothing but luck right now. hes on 30 playing bazball. if he gets another 10 or 20 before getting out you cannot ask for any more. people keep on about lads "getting in" or "sticking around and they literally just can't. they either play and score or get out.

duckett and brook are playing because they score runs quick, they'd probably not play for any other test side in the world not matter how poor that test side is just cos they play at everything.

right now we are about 50 runs shy of where the side would need to be so if one player sticks on a big score its fine.

thats bazball.

I don't agree with it as theres positive and there's stupid but there's no use complaining when the players are doing what they are told.

Brook has a Test batting average of over 60 and going into this test Crawley was the leading run scorer in the series.

yeah and how many near misses etc?

brook plays at absolutely everything. he scores fast. either he is out quick or its a score. say at Headingly, 3 and 75, or lords 4 and 50.

he had a great run to that 60 average v india and nz where neither side actually bowled well and brook likes to plan v spin. he is excellent v spin.

crawley scores well and gets out. the system suits him and he's enabled to go play shots and when they work the work and when they don't he edges it.

same for duckett. he will play at almost everything

so we should not be expecting to see any of them get a century. its a massive bonus when it happens. they are all dropped at points in their big innings as well.

Its bazzball. don't score 30 in 4 hours. score 40 in 1 and walk off and the rest will get enough to have a bowl back and win the game.

we are on 131 right now. 7X30 runs is 210 more. if everyone gets 40 you add on 280 and thats perfectly good for bazzball game.

Isn’t that just cricket? People play shots and when they work they work, and when they don’t they’re out. That’s how cricket has been played for 100 years?

its not test cricket, not for the past 100 years. I'd contend for the most of the last 100 years strike rates of a run a ball were not common even in ODI never mind tests.

Yes its limited overs cricket to swing away at everything, especially with the extremely restricted lines bowlers are forced to use.

Test cricket has a lot more freedom for bowling and so you can't just swing in the slot with some premeditated shots all the time and you can't just play at every ball as they will vary unexpectedly.

If a ball rises over a set height, or the ball is even a fraction wide then you are dings as a bowler. they really can't ply seam or bouncers or wehtever so are restricted to messing about with pace and such to try and get you.
