Great win.
Key moments turned the game. Wood going through the australia tail day 1.

Stokes’s heroics to get the lead to just 20odd rather than 80.

Always liked Woakes, he’s always delivered in England and a handy player with the bat. Didn’t realise he was quite as old as he is.

Be interesting see what England to next game. You’d think of JB isn’t scoring runs, might as well get Foakes in. At least he won’t drop 50% of the chances being offered to him. But like Crawley, this england team stick with players when things are tough.

Number 3 still an issue. Agree with the fact putting Ali there was more about protecting Brooks at 5 than anything else. Same again next test?

Anderson will come back in, is that instead of Woakes? Can’t see how can drop him though especially if ball is moving. Maybe Robinson gets a rest with his poor back

personally wouldn't recall Anderson unless one of the seamers from this test isn't available

well as i said if he can't Anderson plays but i was pointing out that in fact his form is better .

Which is fair, its not great mind but he battled away at slow medium pace and got a few bouncing it. Neither man had any real pace in the first two tests so to my mind we have tomdecide if a 2 week rest helps Anderson regain something.

think we need to look to the future but if Robinson not available will they really go for Tonge in preference to Englands all time wicket taker

well if we really go alli, woakes, wood, Broad and x then there's a lot of bowling there.

the chance of Anderson at his old home v roundup who's the unknown to shake them up.

will also depends what pitch and conditions are doing Tbf. God knows what in 9 days time will be like

England have announced a squad for the next test

Ben Stokes (Durham, captain), Moeen Ali (Warwickshire), James Anderson (Lancashire), Jonathan Bairstow (Yorkshire), Stuart Broad (Nottinghamshire), Harry Brook (Yorkshire), Zak Crawley (Kent), Ben Duckett (Nottinghamshire), Dan Lawrence (Essex),Ollie Robinson (Sussex), Joe Root (Yorkshire), Josh Tongue (Worcestershire),Chris Woakes (Warwickshire), Mark Wood (Durham).

In other words no space for Foakes and no pick of another batsman to come in.

Crawley
Duckett
Root? (surely you promote here)
Bairstow? (he might as well come in there and lose is wicket as later on?)
Brook
Stokes
Alli (i don't see why you'd put him in v very quick pace, the pitch would need to be dead or the first 2 have put on 100 and its already spin)
Woakes
Wood
Broad
anderson/Robinson?

TBH stokes was never going to drop his mate but he really really really should have.

maybe bairstow will get a few runs this time. Usually though when a side as good as Australia find the weak spot they will pull it apart faster than you can fix it as a batsman.
