Root beat the number one ranked test side 4-1.
Rashid can never keep a decent length when under pressure, stick to one day cricket pal.
In Curran he has put his trust in a young guy who looks gr at in home conditions, can he deliver on tour?
He has lost England’s greatest ever batsman.
Lose this winter and he will be under pressure, but for now he has done what’s required.
Root didn't beat the no 1 test side on the wolrd on his own.
a) weather did play a part
b) several indian players were severely out of form.
c) emergence again of a couple of young hungry players like curran had a huge part to play
What I am talking about here is the fact that with respect to joe root he is a journeyman spin bowler who messes about with it as an opener who is there only to give lads a rest AT BEST.
A regulation spin bowler was picked for the side... the all the selectors. not as all rounder but as spinner. A second spin bolwer was picked at no 3 batsman to placate roots having a sulk about batting at no 4. So root bowls himself rather than the regulation spin bowler and in effect wastes a couple hours of the game rather than giving the ball to the guy who's job it is.
When he finally give sup and gives the guy the ball he then produces.
This is not about rashid's ability or what he would do wherever, its baout the selectors picking the guy and root not then using him... for no good reason. to make it worst then he persists with an old ball with anderson persumably cos rashid did bowl the vital guys out.... does root get that you can hand a fresh ball to a spinner its not hard and fast rule.
root again wasted a few overs bolwing a dead ball at guys only blocking when he needed the new ball at them.
again my points not about results its about decision making. you can be a great captain in a **** side losing 0-5 and a **** captain in a side winning 4-1
england now have no no 1, no 2 and no 3 batsman as it stands... hmmm... from the off.
