I was going to get up to watch England's innings too: glad I didn't miss that hour's sleep. <ok>

Root gone last ball of the day, England in trouble. 132-3 and needing to bat out the last day still 237 behind

Smith & Warner banner for 12 months. Bancroft banner for 9. Strong punishments from Cricket Australia.

Still find it hard to believe Lehman wasn’t involved but can’t see him staying too much longer to be honest.

Very strong punishments indeed, I don't remember SA and England receiving similar bans after their ball tampering shenanigans :bandit:

Think the pre meditated nature of it is what makes it worse. Plus fact they got a newer guy in team to do it.

Reminds me of the Pakistan fixing issues where Captain almost forced young 17 year old kid to bowl no balls.

Isn't all ball tampering in cricket pre-meditated?

No, there was the finger nail one a number of years ago. Pressure in losing or not being able to get someone out they just sliced the side of the ball with a finger nail.

Smith has always been a rat-faced little ****, one of those that will push the limits of 'banter' and an arrogant prick. And speaking of arrogant pricks, Warner is as big as they come, full of his own self worth. I doubt whether Warner is truly sorry and probably doesn't think he's done much wrong.

To be fair, the use of a finger nail to open the seam in some way has been around for many decades and all Test sides push the boundaries (<cool>)
with ball tampering. The Aussies got caught this time, but everyone has done it at some point.
