Awful so far. Tournament over after this by still only half way through groups and have to sit through 4 more games of nothingness.

They have to reformat this as it’s so boring.

Why they only have 1 game each day is beyond me as well. Makes this group stage go on forever

I don't know why they have such a gap between the games and i'd agree that the tv in most countries won't care if they have 2 games on two channels.
 
the total though is absolutely awful.

you can prod singles and get 4 runs and over to get to 200 very easily and take no risks.

to thrown the games like they have is pathetically bad, the chopping and changing of players is disgraceful. back the form

Ok so England have 4 games to go but have lost 4 so can at maximum get 10 points. obviously they are not getting 10 points so reight now australia need to win 1 game to officially put england out.

Bottom of the tbale will be


Sri Lanka 4
England 2 (not sure on run rate if this is lower)
Bangladesh 2
Netherlands 0

Bangladesh above us atm. And natherlands have 2 points but are bottom on run rate as they beat SA

yeah i was expecting that when the table updated on bbc.

It's in theory possible to be dead last in a 10 team table with 2 semi pro teams.

It was a massive mistake bringing stokes day 1 as he should have been doing his operation.
they under prepared and didn't back players to perform, instead dropping players here and there. 3 players were dropped for the last game and all back in today.
they made bad calls on winning the tosses they did win
the bowling can't do a thing with the new ball. theres no zip in them, even with topley bowling away there last game they were restricting a team not taking a wicket.

this is just poor leadership through and through. Pick an 11. stick with an 11, make the right calls physically and play to form.

Their chasing has been abysmal. they can't bowl either.

root failed badly with the bat
Bairstow failed with the bag
buttler failed miserably as captain.

thats 150 runs gone before we talk stokes not being right at all.

Good start for England. Couple early wickets.

Would be very england to now go win last few games and still get knocked out cos we lost to two shot teams
 
England set to finish bottom of the table.

What a defence of the trophy they've put up. Buttler and coach should do the decent thing and walk.

Not sure why they dragged Stokes out of 50 retirement either, hasn't played that format for years and expect him to suddenly turn up at a WC, baffling.
Build a team.

It’s not so much about having a bad pitch, it was tricky but not dreadful, it’s about application and attitude, which England have lacked pretty much the whole tournament so far.

we are now two thirds of the way through this group phase

India have 12 points
South Africa have 10
NZ and Australia are both on 8 and probably feel aggrieved to be there.

Afghanistan are 5th on 6 points so you could add 9 points to that (in theory)

After that its down to 3 sides on 4 points.

The huge game next is NZ v SA wednesday
India have a gimmie v sri lanka thursday
The afghans play the Netherlands, this says to me that nothing will be decided just yet.
England play australia so the aussies will want a big win.
NZ also play pakistan on saturday
then india play SA on sunday

This really feels like they are packing in the interesting games over this weekend.

There's a chance that Afghanistan will be in the 4th place spot if results go a certain way, at least temporarily.

After this weekend on the balance of form Sri lanka should be out. England will be out out, (like micky flanagan) the other no hopes like netherlands and banglashesh will be confirmed also.

The NZ v pakistan game is absolutely massive as theres no wriggle room left for pakistan now.
Having NZ play SA tomorrow as well. really this is where 4th is going to be decided

Theres a case to make for NZ being on played 8 points 8 and having pakistan and Afghanistan level with them!
 
huge SA win.

NZ are now officially in danger but have the run rate. 2 games left with direct rivals having 3.

NZ play pakistan and sri lanka in final games. They need to beat Pakistan now.
