Its a new pitch and a new ground out form the city so it was shown on tv yesterday and looked very green. not a hard spinning surface at all. it remains to be seen if it becomes one but batting first and scoring always helps.

India will be very disappointed in the pitch that was delivered.
THe best thing from here for england is to get a good clue as to what their batting is like for the next test. how deep is the batting.

the thing is we knew england's best batsmen were starting with root. bairstow has greatly improved v spin. ducket and hameed are far to inepxerienced to be counted on so anyhting is a bonus. Cook is vunerable to psin for sure.

Kohli is out next. England need to just be working along in the field and seeing out the days.
must be an ardent task bowling knowing you've faff all chance of anything bar a bad set if figures to show for it at days end.

Looks to be heading for draw but remember game couple years back. Can't remember who against, maybe air Lanka where was heading for draw both teams getting 450 odd and then one team fell apart and was bowled out for about 200 leaving a decent run chase on final day.
