If they all lay down then they'd blend into the background. Moral: Never let curtains dictate your kit.
First of all, it’s only a kit. Also, I think that Tony should be congratulated for making the deal with Nike, and the raising of the club’s kudos and bank balance in the process. It’s going to be in the best interests of the club in the long term, there’s no doubt about that. That said though next season’s set of off-the-peg kits are the most pig ugly kits we’ve ever had, or at least the worst in the 30 plus years I’ve been going to Loftus Road. Truly bl**dy awful. Just sodding awful. The worst thing about them is that we can’t say that we wear hoops anymore, with the white one the best of a bad bunch (and only really because of the 1967 connection, rather than any inherent beauty). Maybe they’ll start to look a bit better to me if the team have a blinding season, but I very much doubt it. Orrible. Aside from the Caterham one, Lotto’s final kits for us were absolutely spot-on for me. Best kits since the Guinness sponsored 80s range as far as I’m concerned. I very much hope that when our bespoke kits for the 15/16 season come out Nike go back to that aesthetic again. … EDIT: Blimey that Liverpool kit is a shocker!
Just showed that pic to my wife (who is Scottish) and she is disgusted with that uniform - hideous! As you said Beth, our kit could be a lot worse (although I won't be buying a new one this year!)
In my opinion the home kit looks so camp. It's just got that chase me sailor look about it. Not too bothered as it's only for a year and we apparently got a good deal.
We've played in thin hoops just three or four seasons ago. We've played in red & black stripes in Marsh's days. We played in White at the Millenium Stadium. Calm down, folks. It's a bonkers deal for the Club and it's only for one year.
I thought our red shorts v Derby was a shocker but now it's legendary. It's only kit. And whatever kit, it will be iconic.
please log in to view this image This is the most damning shot I've seen of the new home kit. Yes it's only for a year (although we can't have proper full hoops anyway going forward), but that is a shockingly ugly kit.
Wow .......... whoever designed that should be sacked, whoever approved it should be fined & sacked. That really does look bad. The numbers on the back may help ....... just a little but you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.
This season's Reading kit's for comparison please log in to view this image Collar button down, uneven hoop width, not full hoops, badges too high. Horror show. Still a lot better than ours
They're a bit baggy and shapeless - makes our team look like uniformed lads on a stag do. I'm with the majority in preferring a max of 3-4 even hoops on the home top and I think my favourite away top was that Compaq dark blue one with the extra thin white hoops (although the Dennis the Menace tops are always welcome).
Once the names and numbers are on it won't be so bad. A few wins and I'll soon forget about the kit. That Scottish pic is hilarious and rubbish at the same time. The Liverpool kit is nasty and I've never heard of Warrior - it sounds like a 'market' sports brand.
I prefer the Waitrose, I mean Reading kit. At least it has wider stripes and stripes on the back. The white back on ours will look a bit grim, even with a number on it. Oh well...
compared to that Liverpool kit we've got off very, very lightly. However our stripey second (or is it third??) kit is right up there with that deeply humiliating Scots effort.
I rather like the black and red stripe second strip; it's certainly better than that red & white monstrosity we had the season before last. I did like black and red halves that the Rs wore about ten years ago. (below, long hair optional)
