Not sure why it has taken me so long to go over and read Saintsweb, it is hilarious. They already have a thread up about who should be our next manager. Benitez/Rodgers/Howe/Dyche the names coming up the most with a splattering of Allardyce. These guys clearly know their football and watch many leagues all round the world.
The same names come up every time a manager leaves. Unless we need an interim manager (heaven forfend), I bet our next one will not be one predicted by our fans. We would have to have a complete volte face to employ the likes of Allardyce, Dyche etc. Eddie Howe might be popular, but is struggling at the moment and unlikely to come here. Damn, I've been lured into a next manager discussion
Always an experience to look over there and then come back to us to realise how "cultured" we are in comparison....LOL
Not that I'm calling for Pellegrino to be fired, but if we're speculating on managers that might make for a better fit with our supposed ethos, Eusebio (the one managing Real Sociedad, not the long-dead Portuguese legend) would be fun. They do the possession thing, but at a higher-tempo. They press, kinda, but they also defend en masse? They attack against absolutely everyone, sometimes to their detriment. They often seem both over and under managed. They score a lot of goals and give up a lot of goals and are utterly maddening to watch. I'm not sure he'd make us better, but it'd be an entertaining change, and that seems desirable.
I think that Is a little unfair of Dyche, he could be very good and does not deserve to be included in the manager merry go round
Dyche could never be considered for the Saints job. I know where he lives and I know where he drinks. That could get messy and I fear the mess could be all me
It's not just Saints. Football fans are generally a bit deranged. Good humoured cynicism I can handle. Black humour I enjoy -everyone likes a moan, after all. But relentless negativity coupled with an unwillingness to give anyone a chance, really gets my goat.
