Interesting initiative. I sort of feel
That this money should have gone to the championship. £1m per team would have a far bigger effect there.

The argument is its PL money so the clubs get it back, which is reasonable and fair. Another argument would be its money that the PL was investing in the championship.

Spending it on the fans however would also be a good solution.
 
It's far too logical for the Premier League teams to go for it. They'll also be worried about where this money will come from once the spare parachute money runs out.

I also agree it should have gone to the Championship rather than back to the Prem.
 
I would have liked it to be spent on the championship clubs, would have been so much more useful to them!
 
£1.2m to most Premiership clubs is like finding a silver coin down the back of the sofa. It is meaningless and should be put to tangible use. The idea of subsidising away ticket prices is too good not to be taken up and should be enforced.
 
Sorry, this money does not belong to the PL teams. It should be divided among the lower leagues in a pro rata rate. This decision is typical of the greed that will eventually destroy football. You have to have a feeder system, the lower, sustainable , lower leagues, in order to keep the upper echelons supplied.

It does belong to them it's money people pay to watch the premier league.
The parachute payments are like all of the teams agreeing an insurance policy for themselves.

The point by I was making was that as the money had already been move to the championship it would be a good gesture to leave it there.
 
I'd love to see it invested in grass roots football, there are so many facilities in need of improvement/saving. Great strides that could be made to improve youth coaching outside of the academy system. Again wouldn't happen, but really anywhere but the PL as far as I'm concerned (unless it is to bring down prices for fans).

I think for the PL to be invested in the grass roots they need a requirement to have a certain number of British players on the squad. Man City are currently scrabbling as they currently couldn't field a full squad in the champions league, a touch ironic after having the exact same punishment removed for ignoring FFP.
It would increase the demand for good British players a require a proper drive to invest in player development.
