I think with the amount of strikers that Coventry have he will have to be on fire to get recalled, I think most players go out on loan with a recall clause so we should be fine (hopefully).
Cody Mcdonald deal now confirmed on O/S by martin allen for the season but can be recalled after 28 days, no sign of any other deals though !
I really never thought we would get him back - good lord I'm so excited I may sleep in my shirt tonight!- really can't wait for 3 0'clock tomorrow UTG Roy
I have avoided commenting on the 28 day recall clause so far but people need to stop panicing! Most loan deals if not all allow a recall, you only need Norovirus to hit the training ground and suddenly you have no players. For them to choose to bring him back without an injury crisis or illness would need him to blow the league away for the next 28 days. We have 8 games in that period. If he is good enough to get recalled to play in the team then will we likely have 24 points and a heap of goals by that point...
Confirmation now also at last on the Coventry O/S...http://www.ccfc.co.uk/news/article/cody-completes-loan-move-618824.aspx?
Yeah you have a good point on that as Coventry does have a good range of strikers and it would take a lot for him to get into their team.
well after all the expectations for Friday regards just who was coming in and going out we only had Cody Mcdonald confirmed afterall...and Cody we new a couple of days earlier anyway...bit disappointed really after all the build up ! i'm not going to lie about the fact i'm not gutted we never got wright from palace as I thought he would of played a big part in our run in for us, sounds like the location where he ended up was a factor in this change of heart though...doubt his heart was ever really a near run thing for us though. does anyone have any ideas of any other defensive midfielder we could look to purchase ? as i still think one is on our wish list. i still think there is business to be done before next Thursday. i'd say strevens & flitney will go out of the door and are sorting there moves early next week and jack payne could still follow...just a shame he's trained with two different clubs this season to then come back again ! we will still bring two or three more signings before the deadline has past.
Agree totally. A solid defending midfielder is now the final piece for the jigsaw. Sort that and it's there for the taking. But who?
The answer to your question is obvious Belfast, it would be quite easy to identify the best defensive midfielder who is available. The guy was man of the match last week against the team that beat Villa a few days later. He wins everything in the air, is a hard tackler, very competitive and runs miles, quickly. These qualities are missing in the Gills midfield. Best of all he does not seek cheap applause by passing 10 yards across the pitch (unless that is absolutely necessary) so it is possible to get a rapid switch of play from defence into attack. The price you pay of course, is a fair few overhit passes and an appearance of clumsiness to those who cannot see the positive attributes which so outweigh the negatives. I cannot remember the guy's name but gfc1234 might know it.
bristol407 - about as subtle as being hit with a brick ! I respect your opinion. I agree that Montrose has all the attributes that you describe. I have seen him display those qualities on more than one occasion - and I have given him praise - but the problem is that those occasions have been too infrequent, as to have become a rarity - and therefore his inclusion in the team would be a luxury ( That is why I have been critical in the past. ) I am certain that any current upturn in his performance is more to do with a point to prove. I have nothing personal against Montrose - and wish him well for his future - but from the viewpoint of GFC - he wasn't doing it often enough to remain with us.
Strange player Lewis Montrose how he seems to divide opinion. Personally I cannot really ever remember writing anything about the guy, I might have done but generally I tend to have sat on the fence. People mention about the stray passing but I tended to notice more positives than any negatives and although that was few and far between, for some reason he has never been the first name on any starting team sheet for me. Curious one really, am I bothered about him, no, why, don't know - cannot be more honest than that.
always... My only purpose in waving a banner for Montrose is that he is different to the rest of the midfielders. The best teams comprise a wide range of skills and attributes (rather than having 11 with the same skillsets) and to me it was foolish to let him go, even if he was not going to be selected every week. I know he has weaknesses but some of his strengths are very strong indeed and are much needed in some games.
