The summer transfer season opens officially on the 14th June.....WHICH IS TOMORROW.

Has Steven Schumacher got players lined up to announce tomorrow....we'll soon know.

James Wilson is the only player that hasn't said yes or no to his new contract offer......maybe at his age he was offered only one year.....and he might be checking out the market place before making a decision.

James Wilson has decided to move on.
That is a bit of a disappointment.....he was good and reliable and experienced.
No talk of him having anything lined up......he had a good season in a winning team that won the Div One title.
Surprised that he is looking elsewhere.
Unless he feels that at his age the Championship might be a step too far. He was never known for his speed and maybe he felt a step up a league was not a good idea at his age.
Schumacher now has an extra defender to find....so maybe he can make the squad stronger than before with Wilson in it.....we'll have to wait and see.

We also don't know his family situation which may be a factor. Living away from home for much of the year wouldn't be ideal.

So what contract was he offered? What was the pay like? How long was it? Thing is none of us know any of that so it may be that we didn't try too hard to keep him and he did indeed get a much better offer from somebody else. I would doubt very much that Bristol Rovers would outbid us if we really really wanted to keep a player. If he got a better offer and better terms then at his age I don't blame him for taking it. We will survive without.

I can't believe that Wilson has got a better deal with Rovers....and swapped Schumacher for Joey Barton....I think Div One level is what he is settling for at his age.

Just because you can't believe it doesn't make what you can believe right. At 34 time span of contract matters as much as wages. If we offered 1 year at say £3000 per week and Bristol Rovers offered 2 years and £3000 per week then which one would you take. It's probably his last contract. How hard did we try to keep him here? We don't know and whatever you believe or don't isn't relevant. Why some Argyle followers still seem to doubt Schuey and his team in the recruitment department I frankly don't know. We will not find it any harder than a fair few other clubs to fill posts. There are those who can dangle golden carrots and those that have to be realistic. Somehow they all seem to manage to fill the squad each season and shock horror sometimes the poorer recruitment valued players actually work (Luton).(Blackpool).

And Bristol is a hour and a half closer to his hometown of Newport. Each way. He may have a wife & kids there and perhaps ageing parents too.

Hello Ron. All good so far. We haven't lost a game yet. Mind you when we do, and it may be a few more than last season, just watch the green meltdown happen. Some of our own have us relegated already. I still keep an eye on the Chairs board though but not much been happening lately has there. I will not be deserting however from these dizzy heights and will be back as soon as the season begins.

No known movement towards new players coming in so far....probably need possibly up to nine incoming....some of them will be on loan.....those later in the window when their parent clubs are sure of their own requirements.

Surprised how little as happened today....last time I checked there had been just two transactions.

Holiday time don’t forget. It was half term last week so many in the game will have been away with their kids.

Swansea would mean leaving a job half done...and going into a situation that resembles slipping down a snake when you're already halfway up a ladder......leaving you with an unanswered question of how would it have turned out if you had stayed.
This of course is balanced against the question of moving because of being offered more money.
Then of course you would have been seen as just a mercenary.....Steven Schumacher I think is better than that.

Argyle amongst others ...are showing interest in defender Oludare Olufunwa (21) who is being released by Liverpool ....a central defender and also a right back.

Happy with Randell signing a new contract. I think he is one that will do well in the higher league. Good move.

    INCOMING.

Oh dear....can we change his name to Smith.

Julio Pleguezuelo...26yr old Spaniard....5ft 11in...central defender.....been at FC Twente for awhile...and played regularly for their first team... but didn't sign a new contract that was offered....so has come to Argyle on a 2 year deal.

Also played in his earlier years for Arsenal U21's.

Could be a quality player for us.

    Subject to international clearance.
