Respect

Derry's professionalism called to mind - but for different reasons - Arjan de Zeeuw's restraint when the Sewer Rat spat in his face back in '04. He had the last laugh by scoring the winner in that game.

I hope Derry has the last laugh by netting the goal that keeps the Rs up. He's already a hero for sparking the turnaround against Liverpool.

It's funny though, isn't it? All through last season we were banging on about how a completely new team was needed, and yet perhaps our most consistent performers this time around have included Derry & Hill in their ranks.

Indeed they have. Look also at the squads of Norwich and Swansea!

Fair point, Col. Sadly, I still don't think the Rs would've done as well as those two with our NPC squad because of Warnock's lack of tactical nous at this level. Messrs Lambert and Rodgers have their teams playing a certain way that (at least to me) seemed alien to Warnock, particularly with Taarabt's head being elsewhere for much of the season to date.

Mind you, if you look at the table the Swans are starting to slip a bit - but I'd still happily swap places with 'em.

Agreed!

Spot on

Particularly as Derry had to walk the entire length of the pitch to the players' tunnel

Players like SD give me a glimmer of hope that all is not lost when it comes to honesty on the pitch

My personal view on the "Respect" campaign is that it has been a shocking - though not unexpected - failure, at least in the Premier League, and that the FA really needs to bin it

It is a meaningless slogan for the most part and will continue to be unless the FA gets tough with those who, in any other sport, would be deemed to be bringing that sport into disrepute. Easiest way is to get the referees to wear rugby style microphones so we actually hear the whining and verbal harrassment players give the referees

This. Agree 100%. The players must be held responsible.

Agree, Derry and Hill written off far too early this season. These are the kid of guys that you love playing for your team. Both deserve huge respect and will still be remembered fondly long after they are gone.

I'm not sure its possible to become a QPR legend in two seasons but Sean is as close as it possible to get in achieving that. His contribution cannot be overvalued both last season of course but also as the lynch pin of our recent mini revival. JB please take note as to how true professionals play the game and handle their emotions on the pitch. Give him a new contract today...he will become a great coach.

Along with Faurlin, in my opinion.

Could it be that he knew he was out of his depth and the traditional "hard man" has no place in the PL where a mere touch leads to a penalty?

It is really becoming a joke PGF, football is a joke. Even that penalty awarded to Chelsea at Fulham tonight... what was that all about. I think any decent fan can take their medicine if deserved on a level playing field, but there have been so many injustices this season. The game is a joke.

Why has your avatar got a duck on it? No offence meant, it just doesn't look much like a swan.
Congratulations on a great season, prepare for an intense night on Wednesday.
