I think he's been solid recently while stepping in for Schar, especially against Arsenal when he basically won everything in the air. Despite being dropped, he maintained the captains armband, and always seemed like a top bloke who just got on with it and worked hard. Even if you don't rate him as a player, respect for the man who's probably going to leave. It was never a lack of trying. I hope he finds a club that suits him, maybe a title pushing championship side and perhaps he'll get joy with them and improve further.
When he first started, the way he was so outspoken was great, not afraid to speak out against the wasters in McClarens squad, and as soon as he came into the side he made a huge difference, making Colo and Saylor look like the pair of overpaid useless wasters they were. Great season in the championship too, and exactly the kind of leader Rafa needed at the time, seemingly the perfect captain to lead us back into the Prem. Since then its been a case of never really living up to that early potential, with the liles of Schar, Feds, Lejeurne, Clark and now Burn outperforming him. Great servant to the club, and a leader when we needed one, but his early days did suggest a lot more.
No problem with Lascelles. Was a good leader when we really needed one and always gives 100%. Unfortunately he is not a modern centre half and is not comfortable on the ball. Our back four tendency to hoof the ball forward has been a major weakness for us. It stopped us retaining possession and threw away our chance to control games. Think he would be an asset to any Championship team.
Yeah, he is the perfect championship centee half tbh - can clear, tackle and get goals from set pieces. He just lacks the elegance of players like Schar and Lejeurne it terms of passing, holding etc, that we need in the Prem these days.
A nice lad, but he isn't good enough. I actually suspect he along with the likes of shelvey will the 1st cull... Keeping good lads is important Feddy seems ready go leave and maybe go home.
I see Shelvey lasting longer than Laecelles and probably being here next season. Feds hasnt played for ages and his time is up, and with us likely to go for Botman or Carlos, Laeceles is on his way. First for the axe - Hendrick, Lewis, Clark, Hayden, Gayles, Feds, Darlow and Matty, with Laecelles to follow not long after.
If Forest are promoted, they'll be looking for another CB, so you never know, and his wages shouldn't be a deal breaker.
