Is sort of different over here Archers. The queen is English, living in England, she's yours. If we had a monarch of our own, maybe that would be right. But as it is, it's like being a fully grown man who's no longer living at home, who has to ask his parent for permission every time he wants to make a valued decision. We stand on our own feet, we must be left to decide our future without seeking approval from a person from another country. It's demeaning.

I still wonder what my mum'll think when I make a major decision. She's 77, I'm 51, and we live in different cities.

Have to agree here ; many - but by no means all - Scots hate the monarchy, the welsh are incapable of rational thought and therefore unable to come to a considered position on the matter.

Certainly seemed to be the view of people they spoke to about the Jubilee weekend Monaco - pretty much apathetic about it and actually no different to England in that respect. And before I start to get slated by lots of republican Scots I'm only going on what I saw / heard.
