It's meaningless when people create a thread asking other members to rep them - and they do. And when you say that they are misusing (or misunderstanding) the point, those people give you negative rep, it just becomes another number for the above mentioned rep whores to beat off over. Sad, but true...
 
Cerny's Repping thing in fact started the crash on this site.

Repping is similar to thrush as I understand it
