I think we also have to take anything Phil Thompson has to say with a pinch of salt, especially on Norwegian TV (WTF?)
 
I wouldn't mind Paddy back either, he impressed on loan last year - but would Chelsea sell him?

I would like him back too, he hasn't got much Prem experience though so maybe not to replace Enrique
would be pretty pricey aswell I would of thought.

You obviously misunderstood what i said... <doh>

I said we need to sign a solid LB with pace.

But what i meant when i was talking about crossing ability, is that we wont be able to find a LB that is as good of a crosser as Enrique.

Did you read the whole of my article? I'm AGREEING with you. What i'm saying is we don't need to sign a LB as good as Enrique, with as good of deliveries!!! I've been seeing everyone talking about trying to sign a LB as good of quality as Enrique like Baines, but the fact of the matter is, we dont need to!! All we need is a solid LB!!

That's what i was trying to say!!! I mentioned the fact that we were relying on Enrique and Barton for quality deliveries into the box, but instead of worrying about losing a creative part of the team, we could just sign a LB that's good at defending with decent pace, and add creativity in midfield in the summer!!!

When speaking about defending, you said 'solid' once, and then rattled on for numerous paragraphs about how we have to pick someone who can cross. Don't you think that you dusted over the core role of a left back slightly?

And no. Balls to your view on this. 'We don't need someone as good, just someone solid' is this defeatist crap which would constantly keep us at mid-table mediocrity. We should be trying to build year on year. Wtf is the point in selling our best players and then buying no ones who aren't as good, almost on purpose?

We don't 'need' to do anything, but what we actually do will influence where we end up on the table. We can get average 'solid' players and just end up in the middle of the table, or bring in quality and push higher.

The left back is a very important role. Shooting for an average 'solid' player because we don't 'need' to do anything else is just a mad, mad viewpoint.

And if you're trying to get across a different point, then your original post is written completely differently to what you're trying to say. Read it again.
