Pretty pathetic so far from England. No goal attempts in the first 28 minutes. Lallana off, Rooney back and Charlie up front. Throw some crosses in and go a little more direct.
I know he's scored 47 international goals,but he's not an out and out centre-forward.If Sturridge or Kane were available,they'd be starting upfront and Rooney would be playing in a different position!
An Irish goal would make this a good backbone test for England - would love to see Charlie come on in the 2nd half to save the day.
Correct. Murphy has banged them in all season for Ipswich but he missed a sitter there. Its a big step up from the second tier to international level
Terrible challenge from Brady on Sterling...........in a friendly...........****er!! England lack tempo and the back 4 are far too deep. Rooney and Sterling look off colour and Milner should never play. Poor game.
Inert and disjointed English players thinking they are superior is a big problem IMO like their fans Ireland matching them
Macarthy booked. The Irish are getting quite dirty. It feels as though England have a few more gears whereas the Irish are doing everything they can. One thing the Irish are doing much better is their free kick deliveries.
I don't think it's that, I just think they are set up wrong. Rooney moves around so much, and tracks back so much, that when we get the ball wide there's nobody infield to cross to, so we turn and go back. That starts a behaviour of trying to walk it through, and that discourages Rooney from staying front and centre. We need to change the second half and go more direct, 4-3-2-1 instead of 4-3-3. Play someone up front who will lead the line. Naturally I think Charlie, but that's what we need to do. One shot off target in the entire half is pathetic.

England just aren't up for this game. Also, Henderson should be deeper as he thinks he's Gerrard and he ain't!! Get Wilshire further forward to get some one-twos going etc. Sterling has ****ed himself up with all this transfer ****. Might as well get him off.
