He's also got it in him to win a game.

    Complete gamble by Palace.

Just heard George Caulkin on Total Sport saying that his understanding was that there is no chance of getting Lacazette, certainly this month. With Adebayor signing for Palace and Chelsea seemingly securing the deal for Pato, there must a good chance of Remy coming here now.

I want Remy more than anyone. I'd have Remy over any striker for 10m. For 20-30m Berahino is a risk, and we can't afford risks atm.

We need premier league proven quality and consistent goals.

Remy is a pacey striker, an excellent finisher, good in the air.

A mercenary, but not that bad of a mercenary. He tries hard and scores goals. That's what matters. He's a decent bloke for a merc.

If anyone's on Twitter, follow @soccer_sauce. They are getting better and better; when the media claimed Townsend was 'cooled', they said "no it's not" and were bang on. They're quite consistent on a number of transfers, got Adebayor right, claim Debuchy is off to Villa and are now saying initial talks have taken place between Remy and NUFC. They say Berahino is Plan A, but the price is out of control, and they also say Lacazette has absolutely no mileage - player doesn't want to leave Lyon, period, and definitely not for NUFC at any time.

They have added tonight we're in talks with a defender, but think it might be a bit left-field so not reported so far. So potentially, according to a good 'sauce', Remy plus a defender still possible.

He needs to play regularly if he stands any chance of a place in the French squad for Euros. Same as Cabaye, needs a club that guarantees him starts.
Doesn't seem like there is much interest in him from other PL clubs.
Cannot see that he would much want to go to Villa, but beggars can't be choosers.
Would he get in the side ahead of Janmatt, probably not.

He's on par with Janmaat. At least he hasn't gone to the mackems, thank the Lord. I can't understand why clubs like sunlan aren't spending money. You get £99m for finishing bottom ffs. You've got to spend £50m just to tread water. Crazy if you don't spend it really. You'll end up with very little in the championship.

So the defender in question is a Mattia De Sciglio from AC Milan. Nope, me neither. Full back for either side, but right footed apparently. Bit loose the info, so might be just whispers.

Oh, and Sunderland after Dwight Gayle.

    Excellent - that's exactly what we need - a saucy left-field defender.

Which, Remy? Press this morning claim Leicester have made a cash offer and the player's more excited by that.

Wikipedia makes him sound like a good shout. 1st choice RB for Milan over Abate. Covers LB when Antonelli is injured.

22 Appearances for the Italian National team.

This makes him sound like another Santon that can defend better which would make him a great buy in my book.

However on looking a bit deeper this article paints a less rosy picture:

Why De Sciglio Is the Milan Player with Most on the Line After Internationals
By Blair Newman, Featured Columnist Nov 9, 2015

AC Milan players came out of the tunnel at San Siro for the second half of their meeting with Atalanta on Saturday night, there was one notable absence. Mattia De Sciglio wasn’t there.

The right-back had been substituted at half-time, with Sinisa Mihajlovic deciding to replace him with 18-year-old youth-team graduate Davide Calabria. The reason for the drastic change was De Sciglio’s poor all-round first-half performance.

Within those first 45 minutes, he had gone scything into a challenge to earn a yellow card for which he could easily have picked up a red. He then proceeded to completely miss the ball when attempting a clearance, bringing down Atalanta striker Mauricio Pinilla in the process.

To compound that poor focus and decision-making, De Sciglio’s distribution was off. Every time he got on the ball, he looked unsure of himself. He gave it away several times to cement what was arguably his worst display of a very average season so far.

At this point, some might wonder what has gone wrong with the 23-year-old. Early on in his career, he was touted for great things; speaking to Milan Channel (h/t Forza Italian Football) in early 2014, Rossoneri legend Franco Baresi even compared him to another club legend, saying: "He possesses great quality. He’s shown it ever since he was very young. I remember when Paolo [Maldini] started out—he played with a boldness and confidence but also provided security. De Sciglio has those qualities too."

It was high praise indeed, though on recent evidence, it appears it may have been a case of too much hype, too soon.

Antonio Conte continues to call Di Sciglio up to the Italy national team, something that might bewilder those who saw the right-back hooked at the break against Atalanta.

However, whatever Conte sees in him, Mihajlovic doesn’t. The Serbian coach has dropped De Sciglio in recent weeks, opting instead to use Luca Antonelli on the left and Ignazio Abate on the right.

Abate has been injured of late but should be back to fitness once the international break is over. As a result, De Sciglio may well find himself starting for his country only to return to the bench at club level.

A particularly worrying sign is that De Scigilio appears to be regressing. After his breakout season in 2012-13 he suffered with various injuries the following year. Last season, his poor form saw him fail to hold down a regular spot, and this season his form has continued to decline.

Squawka’s comparison matrix shows that, per game, De Sciglio wins fewer tackles, commits more fouls and completes fewer passes than he did in 2014-15.

De Sciglio’s composure on and off the ball is his main area of weakness at present. He too easily loses his positioning and makes rash challenges when on the defensive, while his attacking play is too often foiled by poor judgement and a lack of assertiveness.

In these mannerisms, he is far removed from the youngster who assuredly broke into Milan’s first team in 2012. The boldness and confidence Baresi mentioned is no longer there.

In the aftermath to Milan’s first league win of this season againstEmpoli, Mihajlovic hinted at the existence of mental fragility throughout his team, telling reporters, per ESPN FC, “We have to do something on a psychological level, because we cannot go on like this.”

On the basis of his most recent performances, De Sciglio appears to be one of the players suffering from such psychological deficiencies.

Fortunately, technical quality is not the issue, and at 23, he has time on his side to work on the mental side of his game and rediscover his confidence.

However, there is pressure. De Sciglio is no longer a prospect, and with Abate currently Mihajlovic’s first-choice right-back and Calabria showing promise, De Sciglio cannot afford another inconsistent campaign.

He is a few years from his prime, but if he wants to reach his peak with Milan, he must improve soon—starting after the international break.

Got no problem with a player being a mercenary so long as he understands the terms of the deal: we pay, he shoots to kill.

Can we not get De Sciglio and Santon back? Full back issues resolved all in one go. Get the Inter centre half too.

A better position- have we moved to London?

Leicester does indeed make more sense, he could also stay living in London (It's only an hour on the train and the football ground in 5-10 mins from the station). Hope we get him though in the past 5-10 years only Remy, Demba Ba and that guy Papiss Cisse we had for 6 months have been the real deal up front. Still confident Mitro will come good and Perez is handy off the striker but we probably can't rely on them as results are suggesting we need a good points tally this season to stay up.

Yeah, at the time I didn't know of Leicester's interest. He always said he wanted Champions League football - hard to have imagined that opportunity could come for him at Leicester City!!! They'd be an obvious choice ahead of us in footballing terms as well as geography!
