or even Rod Stewart, the lyrics seem apt

    "This Old Heart Of Mine"

This old heart of mine been broke a thousand times.
Each time you break away, feel you're gone to stay.
Lonely nights that come, memories that go,
bringing you back again, hurting me more and more.
Maybe it's my mistake to show this love I feel inside,
'cause each day that passes by
you got me never knowing if I'm coming or going
but I love you, yes I do.
I love you; this old heart weeps for you.

Can't believe nobody has suggested Billy Ray Cyrus' "achey breaky heart".

I'd love to have principles and let Remy rot but in truth he owes us bugger all so can't really hold not being his first choice against him. If we're the best option on use table for him and he wants to come then I'd welcome him

You can have him for 8 million and we'll throw in a pair of crutches and a pacemaker as part of the deal.......

.... oh and Bobby Zamora

If this is an option then its a no brainer. Surely someone will take the risk though. Liverpool weren't desperate for him so they can afford to be choosey. We can't and would be mad not to. I just think there will be a CL club somewhere who will take the risk - just maybe not in this country.

Can't understand how no other medical revealed his whole in the heart issue, especially how thorough the clubs are. Saying that, you can be born with one and go through life unaware of it, my wife had gone 64 years before it was discovered.

I'm sure every club knew about the hole in the heart. It will be on his medical records - - I doubt very much Liverpool discovered it and broke the news to Remy.

It's like Ba's knee: for one club it was a deal breaker, for others it wasn't.

Absolutely. Harry "Chancer" Redknapp wouldn't be put off and he'd just make the medical happen. We're bargain basement hunters so are happy to take the chance at low cost. I can imagine Ashley/Charnley rubbing their hands at the thought of dangling a couple of million at QPR.

But surely this isn't just about taking a risk. Others heave said we did it with Ba and it payed off, but Ba had a supposed dodgy knee and this is a heart condition. Would the club not have a duty of care type situation on their hands?? To play someone that might break down physically is one thing, but to play someone who might possibly be at risk of death, if that is the case, is a whole new ball game . I would love us to sign him, but l don't think it's as simple as some seem to think it is.
Should Remy sign a disclaimer, against any claim arising from such a situation ?

I don't think a club is under any duty to advise a player whether he should play football or not. That's what the player's doctor is for.

Remy could get a desk job paying peanuts and reduce somewhat his chance of a fatal episode or he can pull down millions and increase it. He's a grown up. He gets to make that call.

I'm sure that disclaimers and insurance were put in place with Ba about his knee and will be put in place by whoever Remy plays for about his heart. it may even increase the club's insurance premium a few thousand. It's nothing that can't be dealt with though.

From a club's point of view, the risk of Ba's knee and Remy's heart are exactly the same: the club may have to pay several season's salary for a player who isn't fit to play, whether that is due to a bad limp or a mild case of death.

I agree though, this part of the game is entirely up to the player. I assume he has been advised of the risks involved previously and feels they are acceptable.

I wonder if this has got anything to do with Borini not wanting to leave Liverpool
as this would of left Liverpool with two of the same type of player
the medical thing is just a cop out

I say we tart ourselves up and make a pass at him while he's on the rebound! It may not last very long, but I'd rather regret a pregnancy conceived in lust, than be a barren egg-boffer for life.

I don't know where I lost that metaphor, but it was very early on. RIP metaphor.

This is totally the reason, Borini not leaving means Liverpool have to fund the remy transfer by other means... Borini for £14m? Sunderland dodged a bullet there.

Liverpool go on to sign Lovren for £20m and athlough they got £75m for Suarez they have spent a lot already.
