    Interesting topic.

    My first game was either;

    City 4-1 Crewe, or
    City 5-1 Fulham,

    in the 89/90 season.

    I can just about remember the last game of the season where we needed Rovers to lose to win the league. A rumour went round that they were losing, but it turned out to be false.

    This seems to be a good site if anyone wants to look back...

    Came into watching football quite late in my formative years.....was probably 16 or 17, having been brought up on Rugby (born in Bristol to Welsh parents, mostly lived in Gloucestershire). Still love both games. First match was a Freight Rover final against Mansfield.......coach trip to Old Wembley. Just went as a day out really but loved the buzz. We lost but got into it after that.

    Similar to what Dirty Doyler said after his visit to the pub, or at least what I think he said, is that it's mostly Rovers fans up here in Gloucestershire too, so could easily have fallen to the dark side......fortunately my first match (and being blessed with a certain amount of intellegence I'd like to think) threw me in with the right crowd!

    Hopefully not put anyone's glass eye to sleep with my ramblings.

    I have a claim to fame with the Mansfield Wembley game, I started the biggest game of keepy up I have ever seen in my life. (its quite common now I know!) We had a ball and just kicked it up in the air in a crowd of at least 500 city fans, it instantly took off and hey presto, keepy up for 500.

    Amazingly in that massive crowd I managed to get 2 or 3 more touches.

    Within an hour there were at least 4 or 5 more balls bought locally up in the air too!

    My first ever game was actually at Eastville when I watched the Gas beat Peterborough 3-1 in 1969. We only went there because my Uncle promised to take me to a football match and he thought City were home that weekend.

    We went to City the week after and I have been a City fan ever since. One bad experience was all that it took with the wrong 'uns !

    I beleive my first game was a Gloucestershire Cup came toward the end of the 80's. We were beaten by the Gas at Ashton Gate, but my overiding memory is my Mum and Grandad blushing trying to contain their laughter as I kept looking at the guy behind us who was throwing near constant blue language. My young ears had never heard anything like it.

    I also remember it all kicking off in the top corner of the Dolman, but then I think that happened in nearly every game at the time.
