its going to be a case of escape from Alcatraz - the warning's there - we must fix things in the summer.
yes and then you beat the shrews in the carling cup and you have been going great guns ever since. glad we played a small part in kick starting the arsenal. good luck to the arsenal/ floreat salopia
No, I mean given that Wenger fought and ultimatley lost to keep his best players and then had to strengthen in a lot of areas in a short space of time and then had to throw all of those new players together because of injuries that affected our entire back four right at the start of the season.
Na$ri wanted money and we offere him more money but then he pussied out to ManCiteh AW thought he could hold on to Cesc for 1 more season (though he should have gone for Goetze, but Arteta hasn't had a bad season)
What did everyone know again. Not sure if I forgot, or if I was the only one who wasn't part of everyone in the first place.
Correct - you do seem to be the only one The point was EVERYBODY, except you, could tell Nasri and Fabregas would go, - 'to win' things and get paid megabucks.
This is a non debate, both you and PNE assume that 'everyone knew' that Fab and Nasri would leave. Yet nobody 'knew' that they would except themselves. You claim some kind of foresight of wisdom after the event which is actually only arrived with the benefit of hindsight. Wenger was completely right to fight to keep them both, if he hadn't people would be accusing him of not trying hard enough to keep our best players and letting them go. Ultimately it was situation that he was damned if he did and damned if he didn't. It's lazy in hindsight to claim that he made 'errors of judgement'
you are guilty of hindsight, too. We could see he was trying to keep them both. But I felt it was clear they wanted out.
By the way it has already been confirmed that Wenger made a bid in excess of 20 Million for Goetze, not Wengers fault they refused, thats big money and a fair offer.
http://www.dailystar.co.uk/football/view/203147/Nasri-s-one-year-to-stay/ Even on the 27th of July apparently Nasri didn't know. Everyone should have told him.
Like I said, too easy to criticise in hindsight. Do you think Wenger was right to try to fight to keep our best players ?
No cant say I agree. Nasri just wanted more money.(which we could have offered him) and Fabregas was torn between going and staying.(which he has since admitted - soo much so he had a clause put in his contract that should he leave Barcelona Arsenal will get first option to buy) Wenger gets all the blame in this but I feel it was the board that let us down. Firstly Wenger was adamant that he was not going to let either player go. It was the board who agreed to sell and in short went against the managers wishes.(and left us in a position wherer we didnt have adequate time to find replacements.)
