Had a lot of time for him as well Gil wasn't bothered about the casino crap either but, if as you say it is his and he did post it then get rid now
After our defeat to Fulham he took to instagram and commented on a photo uploaded by a sunderland youth player captioned "Opening day <3" He commented: "some opening day hahahahahha hahah" Not word for word accurate, but you get the point. Bardsley's a ****
Yeah I am surprised by this as I thought he had time for us fans - I guess not - he can **** off for me (and, as most on here know, I was a big advocate of his in the past) - this is unforgivable and we should be getting rid - Where I work there is a social media policy which states that "any comments which could be seen as anti-{company} may be seen as gross misconduct and could lead to dismissal - (granted there's a lot of coulds and shoulds ane mays but it gets the message across). Surely the club must have something similar in place? If I had done that about work I know I'd be seeking union representation today
Disappointed in PB if this is true, and it looks like it is. Still remember his free kick against West Brom at the SoL a few years back and the crowd singing his name to the tune of the Baggies' "Odemwingie" song. Mind you, we lost that game anarl...
OUT-OF-FAVOUR Phil Bardsley’s conduct will come under scrutiny from Paolo Di Canio this week after appearing to mock Sunderland’s opening-day defeat to Fulham. A comment stemming from Bardsley’s Instagram account sparked a social media storm on Saturday night after the Black Cats’ 1-0 loss to the Cottagers. Sunderland Under-21 player Scott Harrison posted a picture on the photograph-sharing website after full-time on Saturday, showing the Stadium of Light tunnel, and then wrote the comment “‪#‎opening‬ day (heart)”. But then there was a reply from Bardsley’s Bardoman26 account which read “Great opening day. Hahahhahaha hahahhaha!!!”. That will not go unnoticed by head coach Di Canio, who vented his fury towards Bardsley at the end of last season when the full-back was photographed in a casino. Bardsley has been subsequently frozen out of the first-team picture – training with the U21s during pre-season and not given a squad number by Di Canio. Sunderland have been desperately trying to remove Bardsley from the wage bill, with another year left to run on his contract. But their hopes of selling the 28-year-old before the September 2 transfer deadline were dealt a major blow last week when the defender sustained a broken foot playing for the U21s.
PDC will be stuffing cotton wool up his cheeks and advertising in the Chronicle for Horses Heads as we speak.... I wouldn't like to be in ****sley's shoes.
My point is you don't mention PDC once here. Bardsley then gets his act together and it's all PDC's fault.
At the time we weren't aware of what the situation was with the players and Di Canio, so when we did find out we had to rethink our opinions.
You knew full well. Di Canio had publicly lambasted him for the casino incident as well as being late for training etc.
That's my point though, he was a twat and so was Cabaye for refusing to play. Great thing about being a footballer though is that if you perform on the pitch us supporters will forgive and forget because we are all fickle bastards
I have to agree with Alan Carr's Specs here. We turned on the lad, rightly so. He, however, came back and is winning back our affections. Of course we're fickle. Much like how Cabaye refused to play and then hit cracking form winning back the mags affections. There's nowt wrong with changing your mind when things don't remain constant. Our ability to evolve our opinions on things separates us from the insane.
Not really, no. Nobody here was a fly on the wall in the dressing room and behind the scenes so it was only natural that we tended to believe our new manager. It later transpired that Di Canio is a royal **** and for me at least that affected how I thought about a lot of his previous actions and statements.
