No we don't Phill, what we must do is earn more points than Sunderland, Hull, Palace, Watford, Middlesbrough. These are the teams we're competing against, these are the teams in our league.

You could also include Leicester and Southampton too if, and yes its a big IF, we beat them.

Like I say Phill, it ain't over yet, keep the faith Brother <ok>.

Tenacity and grit are two ingredients missing from our back line, displaying those two qualities would go along way and cover over a multitude of professional qualities that are obviously missing, could be a new record at Anfield this saturday..............<laugh>

You are right, but none of those sides are getting stuffed, maybe losing but it is closer than we can manage, that is why I see all of them picking up more points than us. We are losing by 3 far to often, I can see us maybe narrowing that to only losing by 2, but defensively we are just not good enough and all those sides are better than us defensively (maybe not Palace). If we can sort the back 4 out then maybe. But we don't seem to be to quick to do it.

True TLF but even so, with such a porous defence, devastating results, know nothing, bewildered managers, naive owners and chairman who should have a skull and crossbones tattoo'd on his face, we're still only 2 pts away from safety.

Premier League Relegation Odds: Six Teams Battling For Survival
That leaves half a dozen teams battling to avoid the three relegation spots. Hull and Sunderland are currently the two bookies’ favourites to go down and it is difficult to make a convincing case for either of them avoiding that fate. A new coach and potential winter reinforcements may improve Hull, but they have real issues at both ends of the pitch and it is unlikely to be enough. Sunderland, meanwhile, have averaged less than a third share of the on-target shots in their matches to date and will need a lot to go their way in order to survive.

Swansea are the other side who are odds on for the drop at the turn of the year but all may not yet be lost. Their underlying numbers are better than those of the majority of sides around them and if new coach Paul Clement can sort out a defence that leaked far too many goals under his predecessor Bob Bradley, there are reasons for cautious optimism.

Much of that arises from the fact that there are at least two other sides just ahead of the Swans who still look very vulnerable. Crystal Palace replaced Alan Pardew with survival specialist Sam Allardyce late into 2016 and have decent quality, but it is difficult to see them finding another gear if a team below puts a run together. Middlesborough are available at as long as 5/1 in the Premier League relegation odds with some bookies, which looks generous. Burnley could yet be pulled down into the battle despite a strong first half of the season.

At the start of the season there was interest in the Leicester relegation odds from punters expecting that bubble to burst in spectacular style. While that rush of betting money has been correct to a degree, as the champions have failed to reach the heights of last term, it looks like the cash will stay firmly in the bookmakers’ satchels.

Yes we are not in the relegation zone today but we are clearly in a relegation battle with a number of clubs at the bottom, The position we are in puts us in being reliant on what other teams do as well as trying to go on a winning run which we have not done all season...

Surely Watford and Leicester have to be included in this as well.

Not quite imo Dai, if we keep winning we stay ahead of the pack. Unexpected result vs Liverpool and oh so welcome.

It will count for nothing though if Southampton beat us on Tuesday. That's our next cup final with 16 more cup finals after that one.

It doesn't get any easier and its so hard to watch from behind the sofa but safety is a distinct possibility now and I'll take that. Things are still tense and scary but safety is not as impossible as it seemed under the unmentionable one.
