Middlesborough came up as champions. Reading, Bolton, Wolves and Tranmere contested the Playoffs. Believe it was Bolton who went up.
In Summary, Norwich, Leicester and Ipswich would have gone anyway, Palace went as well as the unlucky 4th bottom team. Boro came up. Reading were disapointed as they finished second but had to endure the play-offs (unsuccesfully). Bolton came up as play-off winners and it was Barnsley who finished 6th in div 1 but were not granted a play-off place. The teams hard done by there were Palace, Reading and Barnsley.
