With ye on this one. If he was on the cheap with reasonable wages then he would be a good replacement for Fox
I wasn't suggesting he is. However, I never suggested he was a must buy and if there's a chance he'll be spending months fighting a court case (or doing time) then he's not worth pursuing in my opinion. If the allegations quickly turn out to be a pack of lies then I'd change my mind again.
Putting wages to one side (not possible in reality, I accept), Remy and Maloney are probably the only two who really stand out for me. I wouldn't say no to McManaman, but he needs to do a lot more yet before I start jumping up and down, eager for us to sign him. And whilst I rate Kone, and wouldn't have any problem with us signing him either, I want us to sign a 20+ goal a season striker who is of top 8 quality - and I don't believe that Kone is one of them. And on that basis, I see no reason to sign him as well, when we already have Rickie and Jay. McCarthy at Reading is decent, and unlike people with McMananan, I'm not saying that based on this season (or even just this week!). He's impressed me before, included during a loan spell at Leeds if I recall rightly. But do we need him? I'm not sure. I'd need to see him (ideally live) on a regular basis, to really assess his kicking distribution (which is the one area I believe Boruc lacks in).
I'm not sure what all the fuss is about Maloney, apart from the fact he puts away a free kick once in a while. Average striker really.
Well for a start he isn't a striker......He would play LW, CAM or RW in our formation. He's decent in all those positions. He has 90% passing completion 6 goals and 9 assists this season. He's a quality player.
