You may or may not recall I predicted it after his appearance in Being: Liverpool, fidgeting with his boots as Brendan gave his half time PowerPoint for the WBA game. Clear as day if you ask me. Which you didn't and that's why I had to tell you. Not that you ever listen.
He has been incredibly loyal to us and it will be sad to see him go. But who would blame him to have the chance to play for your home club etc. I just hope that if it happens then we hold out for a top price because you can be sure a replacement won't come cheap. If Barcelona want him then they must pay a good price. Just hope we don't do an exchange with Valdez....he's pants.
Why would anyone ask you anything? It's not like you to stick around to discuss things is it General Patronising in fact I'm not really sure why I'm bothering to write this!! Unusual to see you after a win MFG. Usually you only throw in a depressing post after we've lost. You must be Mr Wishi. As for Reina if Barca come knocking then good luck to him. If its his dream move then will anyone seriously begrudge him that after all he's given us? As for you MFG...convince me Reina would have stayed if Kenny was still here? Just another stick to beat Rodgers with for you isn't it.
There are plenty of decent keepers out there, and if Barca are prepared to pay over the odds for Reina (which I hope they will have to) we could surely get in a replacement for a fraction of the cost. Even a player like Hildebrand would do well in the premier league and at 33 in the Schalke reserves we'd surely get him on the cheap. I do hope if we lose Reina that we go searching abroad, so much talent out there without having to resort to an overrated young £12m English goalkeeper.
I've always wanted to see Ochoa in the Prem at Liverpool. I think like Bluff said he ****ed about at Club America in Mexico too long. He is a top keeper though, he's the reason Ajaccio weren't relegated last season. Only 27, still young for a keeper. I'm not too keen on Butland, he hasn't really wanted to come and that is an issue. As for Reina, I'd be sad not to have him at the club but it wouldn't be the end of the world. Keepers we can attract. There is a new crop of young prospective keepers, we would end up taking a gamble anyway. He is 30 now and we would have to replace him in a few seasons anyway. Add his injuries to the mix and a high transfer fee and this is one star that I could live with leaving. I don't want it to happen at all but in the case that it does, there are some positives.
To be fair, Reina has played so many games for LFC and it only seems to be this season where he's picking up injuries. I think he's a top class keeper and we will miss his ability and character but he's not irreplaceable. He signed a 6 year deal in 2010 I believe so we still have a lot of power in negotiations.
I saw your comment last night but left it hoping to see a response. He never responds to anything other than to try and put someone down after a comment he doesn't agree with
