I was surprised, no shocked to see Farage at Ipswich, posing in a Town shirt. What on earth is going on? Was he invited, did they book an event, who endorsed all this?

Political campaigning should never stray into Football, especially with local Elections coming up.

Now the club is trying to distance themselves from it by saying there was “no official involvement”. I’m sorry, but it looks like our club endorses Farage.

If you book a guided tour - you can now walk around filming yourself (there’s a whole video too, where he jokes about the manager job being available in the summer), as well as hang up several Farage shirts in the dressing room. Did nobody think he and his cronies would make the most of access to the stadium and facilities? How stupid is our media team?! Who on earth signed all this off and allowed it to go ahead? A massive PR own goal.

The club are quite rightly getting a lot of stick and criticism online and in the media. Those photos take the focus away from the good work the ITFC Foundation has been doing, which they earmarked this week to showcase. We’re gonna be an easy target for opposition fan chants for the rest of the season, at least. How are our coaches, players, and club staff going to feel about this? Completely avoidable.

I’ve been disappointed with the club on many things over the decades, but I genuinely cannot recall a more idiotic off-the-pitch thing we’ve done. Shame on everyone involved.

I was appalled and totally gobsmacked. I suspect there will be a major outcry at the next game. Many fans will vote with their feet. Wonder what the.players.reaction will be.

If Ashton was involved, he should come out and be totally honest, transparent, apologise and eat humble pie.

In 65 yrs of supporting Ipswich this is the worst event, happening I have witnessed on and off the field.

I've been on the tour and there is not a chance I would've been able to hang up my own shirts or film some of the things they filmed. We were actively told we weren't allowed.

Agreed Yorkie. Silence would’ve been preferable to that pathetic, weak statement that takes no responsibility and digs a deeper hole.

To go from “nothing to do with us” this morning to “yeah, we do this thing all the time” is a hilarious change of tack, if it wasn’t so disappointing.

We’re getting plenty of stick from other supporters, and I don’t blame them. Essentially, as a club, we’re saying we’re completely fine to roll out the welcome mat and allow our club, brand, sponsors, and facilities to be used as cheap political propaganda. To do it for any politician is bad enough. But to do it for Farage - who has built his entire reputation on spewing hate, lying, and debasing our politics - is an all time low for the club.

Absolutely shameful.

Pathetic, neutered response. We needed a bold humble apology, saying we got that totally wrong, and we do not endorse or support Reform in any way. This is going to piss off many fans.
A dark day in our proud history, and I wouldnt be surprised if KM and others walk away end of season.

Considering how good Ashton has been on the PR side of the job, this appears to be a massive own goal. Whether you support him or not (I don’t) the simple fact is that politics and football should never mix unless you are linked with the club - seem to remember Michael Foot getting a squad number with his local team back in the day. Personally, I don’t want the leader of any party being paraded around in an Ipswich shirt. Don’t understand why the club would want to be attached to anyone political as you will always alienate over 50% of the fan base who don’t support that party

We too should be proud of our players from diverse cultures, backgrounds, Black, Asian, mixed race.
 
Hopefully we can put this to bed and unite behind the team for our next home game.
While it will be tempting for fans to vent their anger and protest - and I would lead the charge! - its best for everyone to focus on the footie.

Damage is done. Unfortunately I'm sure like a lot of people football and following Town is the chance of an escape from all whats going on in the world in a place of safety and a community brought together by a shared interest. Now unfortunately due to incompetence or worse compliance that world has seeped into that safe space and caused division.
