Is he a youngster I've missed I don't think the media were anti-Arsenal at all, you guys got a lot of praise and looked like you were in it for the season. Liverpool didn't get mentioned too much in the title stakes until about February / March time. Sure we (Liverpool and Arsenal) were up but most pundits rarely stick their neck on the line plus they don't want to appear fickle () so refuse to change their minds from pre-season predictions. Majority went for Chelsea or Man City and that's who was being back throughout the season. Liverpool just forced their hands in the dying months.
I don't really care about what the pundits and papers say about us. The best way to shut them up is winning things anyway.
myopic to say the least - please see comments made by Michael Owen, Shearer, Hanson, McNulty, Hanson, and so on. It was so bad it almost became a running joke on both MOTD and Sky, with Lineker and his counterpart at Sky, asking the "experts" week after week, "Are Arsenal contenders now?" They wouldn't even admit Arsenal were contenders. Honestly, if you are going to join in discussions on the Arsenal board you are going to raise your argument level from, "This is what I think, because it is what I want to think."
What is wrong with Gerrez's post ? The media weren't anti Arsenal, they were just saying what the majority of people on here were saying. When asked if they thought we'd win the league they just said no.Have a look on the prediction thread and see how many on here thought we'd win the league.
I agree, i don't think the media are anti Arsenal as such (in general).. many of us thought that there may be some chance when we were top of the table but I think we were pretty realistic about our chances. The media are ill informed and foolish but I don't think they have an anti Arsenal agenda.
I'm surprised. I cant see how the pundits are in anyway fair. We hear nothing else about how wonderful Liverpool are and what a tremendous achievement it would be if they win. In Arsenal's case we just hear how they keep losing. When Arsenal were top we kept on hearing how we weren't even contenders. When Liverpool got near the top we were told they had a real chance of winning the whole time. Its bull****. Liverpool are a far inferior side to Arsenal. They have been very lucky with injuries and haven't had deep cup runs and Europe to worry about. Rogers manager of the year, don't make me laugh.
Gordon Bennett, you sound bitter. I thought Hans was bad going after Liverpool, but even he wouldn't come out with some of your deluded stuff. What exactly are you basing that Liverpool are an inferior side to Arsenal this season?
Because their players are worse. They had no squad depth at all. They finished barely above us. We beat them twice this season and they beat us once. But don't call me the bitter one, you are the moron that supports a team that even when they are good, you keep on calling them ****. I'm absolutely honest when I say that there is only one player in the Liverpool side that I think would make our entire squad. And he would have been an Arsenal player if he wasn't such a simpleton, being duped like that on his contract.
It was only when the destiny of the title was in Liverpool's hands that the media starting saying they had a chance of winning. Most pundits said the Chavs or Citeh would be champions and never deviated from that.
Quote me a post where I've called Arsenal ****? You talk out of your ass and then accuse me of saying something I didn't say. Having a better set of players does not equate to a better team. FFS I thought even you would understand that. Also only one Liverpool player would make the Arsenal starting 11? The following players could get into our starting 11: Suarez Sturridge Gerrard Coutinho Sterling Lucas Coutinho and Sterling may be young but are as good as our players - OXO and Gnabry who featured in our starting 11 this season. Lucas was a controversial pick, but he's as good as either Arteta or Flamini, who play in our starting 11. Our squad on a whole is better than Liverpool's but past our starting 11, the quality significantly drops.
What a load of bollocks. No chance in hell that all 6 of those would make our starting eleven. Firstly we play with only one striker so that rules out one of Suarez or Sturridge. Suarez would play centrally for us and thus Sturridge would not get a look in. You've then listed both Gerrard and Lucas, so you'd rather them as a midfield duo than Arteta/Flamini-Ramsey... no chance. Gerrard wouldn't displace Ramsey and Lucas just isn't that good. Coutinho is an AM and would have to displace both Ozil and Cazorla to get near the starting line up. Not a chance he would be astarter for us, he is a young player who has had some very good moments but isn't as good as what we have. And Sterling wouldn't start ahead of Walcott though him and oxo could fight it out for who plays second fiddle to Theo.
Sterling has improved massively this season while Chamberlain still just doesn't seem to make any progress. I'm more worried about him than I am about Wilshere
I'd have Gerrard comfortably as the holding midfielder alongside Ramsey at the expense of Arteta/Flamini without a doubt. Sturridge and Sterling would both dramatically improve our squad and I don't think a case needs to be said for Suarez.
I'm not particularly worried about either of them. We have seen with Ramseyand Walcott that with young players sometimes it takes different amounts of time for them to really push on. Oxo ive always wondered whether he would be good enough for us, but he has shown in flashes some very good football and so i'll hold out faith for longer. He is still very young.
A few of them would definately improve our squad but only Suarez would be a nailed on starter for us when everyone is fit.
For me our defence and Ozil, Ramsey, Cazorla (hasn't had the best season but is class) and Walcott are nailed on players in our squad. The rest aren't. This is based on everyone fit and start of season, not a season to season comparison in my previous post.
