And the harshest of red cards you will ever see in the 2nd leg and even then we were still the better team but caught out after a lapse in concentration. And lets not forget Moscow and Drogba's harsh red too and we'd have won with him on the pitch.

Shirt pulling is an automatic yellow card offence. Beckham got a straight red in the 98 WC for the same thing as Rafael's first yellow. There really is no argument, fully deserved red and Rafael went off with no complaint.

DL you missed out 03/04 (Monaco handball goal in the second leg at home) and 09/10 (Kalou penalty and red card not given in the first leg away to Inter Milan, two penalties not given in the second leg). There was also some dodgy refereeing back in 99/00 in the second leg away to Barcelona surprise, surprise.

    LOL@foolwhodoesn'tknowrulesoffootball

Rafael intentionally tripped a player while he was lying down after his little dive and then he pulls back a player from behind, both yellow cards. What on earth are you talking about Ribery for, cos he turned a move to United down?<laugh>

Although there have been bad decisions, a game is 90 minutes long, if one decision in a game is enough to put out out, other than red cards I mean, like a debatable goal like Garcia's, it's hardly being done by a ref, then you have to blame your team too for not doing enough to win outright

Especially when United still could have gotten a result had Fergie reacted and the players not let the decision affect their game, which they did. They were winning, they lost an attacker not a centreback, what happened their defending and while we're at it what happened to their goal fest scoring they've been at all season, RvP had enough chances over both games, good 1v1 chances to put it away i the first leg alone, but that gets forgotten as do the chances Chelsea had v Liverpool in the CL. So blame the ref 100%, erm no. It wasn't a Webb Clutterbug fiasco, those I agree are being totally done by a ref

The penalties that Chelsea were denied in the semi, one was not, the handball, the other was, but neither prevented goals going in and neither gave your opponent a goal either so blaming the ref for LOSING is incorrect at best.

Funny we all seem to forget the bad decisions when our teams win a game regardless.

Liverpool in 09 had some bad decisions, like a disallowed goal from a free when we came 2nd, yet I am yet to hear anyone linked to LFC say refs cost us the league that year.

To be fair any intentional malicious contact to the face or head is an automatic red card. However it's ridiculous how this wasn't even given as a foul and hence a penalty (back in normal time).

You were definitely cheated out of the league in 08/09. Without ref intervention United would never have won that title, you could say the same in 10/11 as well.

Yeah I remember how great sports you were when we got that penalty against you at Anfield in the league back in 2007/08. This is football, not basketball or cricket. One goal, even no goals, can decide a game and an incorrect refereeing decision in or against your favour might be the deciding factor.

And for the Barcelona game, we were denied SIX penalties, with a least four being clear cut.

No mate, possibly 2, but you see, United fans think both penalties given by Webb in the 3-3 were penalties where you think they were both NOT penalties, I do myself think they were not penalties but there you have it

So I don't want to get into a running debate over it, we see it differently but you're having a laugh with 6, really, 6?

Do you not remember you had Drogba? Do you remember him pretending to be hurt, rolling off the pitch and then back on to the pitch so the ref had to stop the game when Liverpool were countering preventing a possible dangerous attack, but the ref is still not to blame for a bad result.

Do you not remember the stamp by one of your players v Liverpool right in front of the lino and ref, a red card all year.? Game changing decision NOT made. But alas if Liverpool lost it was because they did not do enough to take it out of the ref's hands, score three goals and concede none and it doesn't matter what is given or not given. Only with the webb one, you had scored 3 and he gave two non penos, you just cant fight that kind of thing and win

I told you, when we get a win we instantly forget the bad decisions. That's all I will say, refs did not cost Chelsea Liverpool or Man United any CL or league titles.

This ABB crap gets boring. It happens to ALL teams, it doesn't balance out over a season, it doesn't balance out, but all teams get bad decisions but only a few are done by refs.

The Europeans are not and have not been fond of England since I don't know when, the crying over the whole WC bidding affair did the PL no favours in Europe I will tell you even if it was FIFA and not UEFA, they are one and the same in reality.

This. I think the British game suffers a bit from the fact that fans are more willing to tolerate a bit of agriculture and less willing to tolerate a bit of gamesmanship. Whereas in Spain, Italy, France and even Germany and Holland they seem to be the other way round. Refs and players in the countries adjust their standards accordingly, and in Europe the refs use the majority standard and the British teams suffer.

Regardless, I'm loving the fact that an article in a ****rag about Utd being robbed in Europe has triggered the usual moaning and gnashing of teeth about ref decisions from a decade or so ago. Any excuse, eh? <laugh>

In the Trafford match, in my opinion the first was a penalty whilst the second one definitely wasn't. It was one of those big games where you really cannot afford bad decisions to go against you.

I witnessed six fouls in the box by Barcelona that night, all of which were appealed and on replay four were clear cut. If you like I can recall all of them in the order they came in, who was committing the foul and where relevant, against who, as well as the scoreline at the time of each. That is how many times I watched them all in order to be sure. Yes I do remember Drogba and his antics. It is up to the referee to keep the game moving as swiftly as possible and add on the time. I have no problem with him adding on time if our players are time wasting.

Yes I remember the kick by Jose Bosingwa on Yossi Benayoun. It was a red card without doubt and I couldn't understand how the referee did not give it. However in the same game the referee wrongly sent off Frank Lampard for a non-existent foul on Xabi Alonso. The score was 0-0 at the time and Liverpool ended up winning 2-0 after the sending off. The red card was rescinded which confirmed that it was wrong to give it in the first place. However the incorrect decision not to send off Bosingwa didn't change anything, the incorrect decision to send Lampard off did.

Also I do remember the calls that went for us, they're mainly in the less important fixtures. It's the one in the big games which I make a big deal over as those are the most important ones and few decisions do go for us in those games, but a lot against. We have had decisions go against us in the lesser games, but I don't make a fuss over them as I do the ones in the six pointers. I imagine it's the same for a lot of us.

Btw, for the record I'd have much rather had a pen and Cech sent off after 2 minutes, as the Spanish ref was on record saying he'd have done had his LINESMAN not given the ghost goal. Should have given the goal and sent off Cech anyway, as they did the year before with Biscan against Marseilles.

yeah I dont even know why that is still debated, was rightly sent off on the night, disagree with you about Drogba though as he clearly slaps Vidic in front of the ref but what Rio did today was worse but Webb had his back to it.
