In er....honour of one of the poorest decisions by a linesman on Saturday. What are the biggest howlers you've seen made by our much loved officials in the professional game or at an amateur level?

Has to be in the world cup when Poll showed 3 yellow cards to the same player. Croatia against Australia 2006.

Yup, that takes the biscuit for me. I don't think it's really wise for fans to goad the ref by calling him a self-pleasurer, but "Graham Poll, is better than you, Graham Poll, is better than you" must hurt even now.
 
The ones that stand out for me are:

1. Clive Allen's 'goal' for Crystal Palace in the 80's that hit the back of the goal and came back out and the ref waved play on
2. Crystal Palace's disallowed 'goal' at Bristol City when Neil Warnock was in charge a couple of season's back; it was same as above, but comes second because I quite liked the fact it happened to Warnock
3. The Reading 'goal' that was given against Watford, that had never gone in at all.
To me these are far, far worse than the Poll incident or a bad off-side.

On Saints related ones, the Kevin Keegan disallowed goal against United, still pees me off even now.

Keegan one wasn't a mistake though was it? That was just how the rules were at the time! Always amazes me how some want to go back to that.

go wash your mouth out with soap young man! :) Sacrilege! Who cares about the rules. It was a beautiful goal that should have been allowed because 1. It was King Kev; 2. It was against Man United and 3. I was there jumping up an down like a lunatic, not realizing it had been disallowed :)
 
The Reading/Watford one that flt mentioned wins for me. Noel Hunt, Reading striker, went to head it back into play when it was going wide to keep the attack alive, did Stuart Attwell not stop to think that'd mean he's trying to clear his own team's shot off the line?
 
When we beat Ipswich 5-2, in the Championship, it always looked like Ipswich's 1st hit the post next to the goalpost, came back and they scored, even though it went out of play.
