there's a rabbi, a priest and vicar... Seriously though having lived in the states for 20 plus years there are countless 'rec soccer leagues' some are well organized and some are a total shambles. The last league i played in ended up disbanding because of the constant fights and verbal and physical assaults on the refs and this was an old geezer league. Sounds like this particular league was one that might be described as a total shambles. Unfortunately all these leagues need refs and they get paid upwards of $40 per game. You do three games a day couple of days a week and it is good pocket money for someone who needs some extra cash. The refs don't have to be all that fit and in most cases barely leave the center circle but they take a lot of **** from 'players' and now and again some cretin throws a punch. Obviously the guy didn't mean to kill the ref but the best thing they can do is to stop this league using any of the pitches, which are usually owned by the local authorities or schools. The guy who killed the ref will be charged but to stop this kind of violence the teams and leagues have to get act together and start to control their members.
Let's save that for when we don't have any football to talk about, (or not). Sorry for wandering off topic folks.
I think it's fairly well accepted that there is only one God, Lennie. What seems to be rather hotly disputed is what his name is, and what it is he actually wants.
Hindus, Buddhists, Shintoists, Taoists, Wiccans, Pagans, Satanists, Agnostics and Atheists might not agree with you there, NSIS!
Hindus actually believe that there is one supreme being or spirit- the Brahman. The Brahman is considered to have many forms. The main ones being Brahma, Shiva and Vishnu. But nevertheless, the belief in one supreme spirit is still there. In Buddhism, the belief in any god, never mind how many is left to the individual. That's why I said fairly well accepted. Obviously, that does not been everybody.
