Redmond - his best performance to date?

I felt that Redders and Bassong made all the difference. Historically, all his great skill and pace has been let down by wayward shooting, but yesterday, he seemed to have developed a ruthless accuracy.

So - was this Redders best performance in a Yellow shirt to date?

Certainly it was from a scoring point-of-view. The first goal was his really, denied by the hand-ball, then he scored the second and laid on a great through ball for Jerome to score the third. Strange that all of that happened in the second half after a tentative first-half.

He should have done better with the 1 on 1 near the end but he was terrific , reminded me of Sterling .

As others have said - he was quite ineffective first half - but 2nd half!!!! And he could have had a hat trick when through 1-on-1, but for the timely tackle.

I'de say so, added a few £s to his value and if he plays the same again against boro we might have a problem holding on to him at the end of the season. We need to keep hold of these creative players and will soon be looking for another to take hoolahans place, do we have any younger ones coming through the ranks?

Thought he was very ordinary in the first half and probably should have scored more than once in the second when he did better. He seems to need an awful lot of time in the box before pulling the trigger and his goal whilst a firm shot really should have been saved. That said tough to criticise a goal and two assists. Hope for more of the same on Monday.

McGrandles appears to have disappeared off the Canary radar of late, but that's supposed to be his role. There's been talk from Hamilton of them taking some of our youngsters on loan, it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if he ends up there for most of next season. I wonder if we might see Jacob Murphy and perhaps Louis Thompson and Harry Toffolo end up there too, unless Swindon go up.

Certainly was the trigger for our second half display. Play like that in a week's time and we should be victorious. I would expect about four of our youngsters going on loan to Accies.

I know his first shot was when Berra was still on the pitch, but I wonder if he would have had as much freedom to put in the performance he did had Berra had not been sent off.

The through ball for Jerome's goal was right out of the "What would Wes do in this situation" top drawer
Couple of times he took it on himself when others were better placed, but I guess his confidence was sky-high after his earlier goal and good second half performance.

I am not sure if anyone agrees with me but I thought he role was different second half. In the first leg and the first half of the 2nd leg he was playing as an orthodox winger hugging the touchline which, even with his pace and skill I think made him easier to defend against as he was almost always going on the outside of the full back. In the 2nd half of the game on Saturday he appeared to be given more freedom and was subsequently cutting inside more and running at the heart of the Ipswich defense. This also helped pull Mings out of position more and allow more space for overlaps from our fullback and midfield.

Personally I think it is how we should be utilising Redmond like this all the time as it makes him a serious threat and commits more of the opposition players and makes space for our other creative midfielders.

I tweeted at half-time that we needed to get Redmond on the ball more and to take advantage of our five-man advantage in midfield, thankfully that's just what we did and he destroyed them.

I agree that I thought he played through the middle more in the second half, and for all AN's comments about how he told the players to keep on doing just the same after the break there was a noticeable difference between how we started the game and how we started the second half even before the sending off. First half was absolutely dreadful so something must have been said at the break.

On the Sky commentary they said that coming out after half time we set up 'like Barcelona'. Our full backs were pressed right up, centre-backs split and wide players roaming.

I couldn't see from the vantage point of a TV screen how exact this was, but clearly we started the half much better and by extending the game got ourselves ahead within minutes, Redmond chief beneficiary.

Anyone corroborate the change in set-up - and if so - will AN use the same tactic at some point against Middlesborough?

Yes, Redmond was playing much more centrally in the 2nd half. Strange, but isn't that the position he plays in the England U21s????

I've been wanting a more 4-3-3 style formation all season. In Howson, Johnson and Tettey we have the perfect makings of a classic central 3. You've got the DM, Tettey, who just sits infront of the CBs, then Johnson and Howson taking turns to get forward and support or drop back and defend. It also gives license to Olsson and Whits to get further forward as they know they have plenty of cover and no traditional winger in front of them.

It creates a great base for players like Redmond and Wes who can float around between the lines and pick out the key passes or do the little tricks knowing they have good cover if something doesn't come off.

I agree with this, but you could also argue that the same players could be ideal for a 4-2-3-1 formation which would allow Wes to play centrally and BJ to get forward more. It's great to have so many options.
