I'd take Corluka at CB at the moment - King needs to rest, Gallas needs to be pensioned off, and Khumalo needs to stop kidding himself.
No disrespect boys but whats happened to that team that tore us a new one at the Lane earlier this season? Yesterdays team was a world away from that one although you probably should have taken a point from the game. Is it the " 'Arry for England" syndrome? Still think you can make it as Newkie and Chelscum have some tough games left.
God knows. We can talk about bad decisions here and there, discuss how Harry doesn't seem to be able to change things round or whatever but fundamentally I have no idea just why players like Modric, Bale, Ade, VDV, Defoe, Walker, BAE, King are shadows of what they were just a few weeks ago. It's frustarating to have to admit that you just can't put your finger on it. But I really can't.
On squad rotation: I guarantee that if the squad had been rotated earlier in the season during the time we were doing very well, and we ended up losing (regardless of how well we played, lets say for example we deserved to win but still lost) I guarantee a large number of postings would have been made here saying that Harry was wrong not to play his best team. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Admittedly I would have liked some of the aforementioned players not to have been loaned out, but I'm thinking that they may have actually wanted to go (lacking playing opportunities) so would not have been in a good mental state (or match practice) when needed if forced to stay. Yes I know there's lots of "but..." you can raise with that statement!
There definitely would have been claims that Redknapp rotating would be a mistake Vimhawk, but that doesn't mean that they'd be right. As we're seeing now, it would've been the right thing to do, as many people pointed out last season, when the exact same thing happened.
I think the rotation question is more about giving ourselves options for when players go out of form. Not even the best players in the world can go through an entire season playing to even 90% of their ability. So when any of our 1st 11 lose their edge who can we turn to? Can a 2nd string player immediatley step into the first team seamlessly? When they have had little or no pitch time? Probably not. That is why rotation can help towards the end of the season. Say Piennar or Townsend or Gio had about 6 or 7 starts under their belt. Maybe a few more appearences off the bench. It could have given us options for when the 1st teamers put in the **** displays with witnessed over the last month. Also it would give them a kick up the backside. Most know they will play no matter what. Hardly giving rise to a competitive atmosphere is it?
redknapp reackons our trouble is because of our paper thin squad, but he does'nt use all the players in the squad anyway, and if there were'nt so many out on loan, they could be used
For Redknap it's all now about saving his own image in the press, otherwise the FA won't touch him with a barge-pole. He cannot come out and say what we all know to be true - that the team is failing because of his lust for England job, and that he's prepared to sacrifice us to get his dream job. He's used us. Any half-decent manager could have taken over from Ramos, and we still would have been in contention for CL places. Who knows, we might even have gone further than Harry took us. This idea that Redknap is some kind of Alf Ramsey is utter nonsense! As the Redknap-supporting gutter-press will soon discover.
Rotate with who? Its all very well saying oh give GDS and Pienaar starts...we did, and they were ****. You cannot persist with players who can't come into the side and pick it up straight away...you tend to lose if you do that. That is our problem, our squad is nowhere near as good as people think, its got some good names for sure, who will do well in other teams. By contrast Valencia and Nani have gone straight in after their respective injuries and played well. The theory is right, but the personnel isn't. Everyone thats cried for our wonderful finisher Defoe to start to give Ade a rest...the QPR game tells you why!
