Southampton are my heroes; I'd be distraught if we went down. I love NA, and I hope he is successful with us. If we are bottom in November with a very low points total (I.e. Adrift) then Cortese will make a move and I will back him. If we are in the bottom three and only a small number of points off the pace, then I hope he stands by NA. What I'm saying is that for me, it's club first, personnel second.
I know what you mean about Saints first, but sometimes managers need time. Who would we get in when Cortese is very specific about requirements? Do we get in a Red Adair-type who is then subsequently sacked (at great cost) if a more suitable manager is found. Knowing NC, he probably has a list of possible managers..just in case he has to sack NA or if NA leaves...but doubt he's trigger happy. There will be at least three teams who are worse than us or less well organised than us. After the Arsenal game we may not have many or any points but we can tick off a match against 3 top sides and a good side from our list.
Please no. We have been on the sacking of managers merry go round before and look where it got us. Nigel has done superbly well for us and I don't doubt him. Should we be in a difficult position come the end of October we may need to think hard about what we should do then but put all these bad thoughts away and get behind our Nigel. The one good thing Nicola could do to help Nigel if he think he is struggling is get someone in as a mentor to assist him through the difficult time. Someone like Strachan for example. Such an arrangement would only be temporary and would not imply Nigel was being replaced but just supported. The one thing I would plead is that Noicola never ever lets Mr Twitchy anywhere near our glorious football club. Remember he could never have done what Nigel has done without bankrupting us in the process.
Cortese would have been a fool if he had not factored in the thought that the investment he is making might not pay off. However, I can't see Adkins going of his own volition, unless Liverpool want him - and don't rule out that sacking - and Cortese won't sack him unless he is shown to be totally inept. Yes, he was caught out against Wigan, and he is the first to admit it. Redknapp? Is it April 1?
I agree Fran. I don't want a change however, Cortese is a man with ambition in his eyes and although he won't panic (I bet he looked at the fixtures and thought it could be nil points from 4), if we get two months further on and we are adrift and heaven forbid still chasing a win then he will act. I remember his words when I met him : "this company will not get relegated with me at the helm" His eyes turned red and he really meant it.
If we still have no points after the villa game, the Harry biased red tops will be falling over themselves to get Aitch in at saints! We all know this is how football works!
Nicola gave Nigel a five year contract and that wasn't so he could sack him after one. All I can say is he definitely has more faith in him than some of the fans. There's no need to worry if we are in the bottom three after a few more games, at this point in the season it only takes a couple of wins and you are in mid table. Anyway I have no doubt that Nigel will be fine.
I don`t want that assh&le anywhere near our club again - he had a go at keeping us up before. He had plenty of time, and brought in 10 players, the majority of whom were duds. Anyway, we shall be fine with NA in the drivers seat !
No way arry - When the day is right for Adkins to leave i would like us to try a lure Jim Magilton from Ipswich
I will personally march up to the stadium and single-handedly complain/protest if that were to happen. Can't stand the.....d!ck!
I agree! 'Arry was a ****ing disaster last time he was here, let's not repeat that mistake. Anyway, as you say, Nigel will do just fine. This is just idle speculation by one of the more scurrilous rags.
I don't think Adkins is under any pressure right now, and it would take an improbable run of defeats to do it. His sacking is not really a possibility worth considering at the moment.
With a world population of 6.5 billion to choose from as a replacement for Sir Nigel should the need arise, I would put twitchy melty face as 6.5 billion and first favourite.
