hi Cardiff supporters, I come in peace, this is not a wind-up....being a lower league supporter I rarely if at all follow the Premier League, however, I did see a bit of your game against the Saints yesterday, mainly because Gazza is their keeper...was with us a couple of seasons ago.

I noted you playing in red and could see in the crowd your fans rightly wearing blue scarfs. So i just wondered what is being done to get rid of this red kit etc. Are your supporters standing and protesting together...what's planned ahead to overturn this decision if anything. I know I could probably scroll through your board and find some of the answers but thought i'd just ask the question straight out instead.

Just interested as a traditionalist myself.

The only way we'll get rid of the red is to get rid of Tan.

There's a vocal minority that has pushed the "blue" theme at the expense of tumbling back down the divisions. They are still very much a minority, and will clutch at the recent Malky/Tan spats to support their cause, blaming Tan for everything.

I think the colour issue will never go away, but the concensus of opinion regarding the owner/manager situation is swinging away from Malky. Realistically whilst Tan owns the club, we will be playing in red - the guy will have his way.

Other than most fans continuing to wear blue nothing is being done. Organised protests have fizzled out and been ridiculed by many. Tan holds all the cards and Premiership football is the be all and end all for the majority of our fans. We are more divided than we have ever been at this moment in time yet we are round about the position we all would have taken at the start of the season. No doubt in my mind that the Malky debacle has been a catalyst for discontent for the traditionalists like yourself. Both parties are culpable for the embarrassment that has been played out in the media of late and it looks set to drag on. This, and the kit change should have been dealt with through dialogue.
 
I did read a blog not long ago about the colour of teams. I follow and read anything that protects tradition for what I see from the 1992 virus, social cleansing and so much more. I didn't agree with the blog which suggested the survival of status is more important that colour. No it is not. You do not sell the soul or traditions of your club to anyone for any reason. People laugh when i tell them I don't want Premier League, only people that travel with me through my clubs journeys know how much I actually mean that. Two decades, a generation now of people that know nothing other than what has been bred via tv. Traditionalists like myself will never win the fight, you have traditionalists in your club as you well know but we are out numbered by a new age of supporter and ones where i can see everything that is wrong with our game. I think this was no more highlighted to me than last season when Scally in our centenary season changed us to red!!! I couldn't believe the number of fans that liked it and supported it. All marketed under the guise of our 100 years. Thankfully this season we changed back to blue...but it sent a stark warning to me at the severe erosion of tradition.
 
BRB , just look at the home fans tops 95% blue as you clearly saw , away its all blue .............................most hate the red and pathetic badge but money talks unfortunatly and us the paying fans home AND away have no say but can only try to keep the clubs colours alive the only way we can by wearing blue ............
 
The original colours of Cardiff were orange and black very like Hull so as a traditionalist you would like to see our original colours?

I am not interested in what colours any other team play in and I am just as certain no other fans care about our "original" colours.

This is not a fashion show, otherwise we could have a bunch of girls choosing the colours...this is football at the highest level and demands all out effort from the team on the pitch and massive investment. Anyone who does not understand the modern game will of course want to live in the past.

There was a time our goalkeeper played in pink under Dave Jones.

Fans can wear the blue no one is stopping them and the chants can still be Bluebirds.

You will see a variety of opinions on this. There is a minority section (who live in their own little bubble) of nutters, kids and ex-hoolies on another board who have done their best to stoke up trouble and build an Anti-Tan movement - partly by trying to convince us that, just because Malky made the right noises and connected with the fans, Malky Mackay was a great manager and then mix in the 'red' issue with it. Like many very long time City fans I have sympathy with their cause, but despise their yobbish attitudes and language - I am therefore prepared to put up with being RED (which is in reality only a temporary blip in our history - we will be blue under any new owner). The main reason for putting up wth the red, for me, was I did not want to give any support to the yob element which had overtaken the Back to Blue movement. Evidence for this is clear on another messageboard and Facebook associated with 'Bluebirds Unite' - which they had to put a block on because of all the racist and obscene comments. Generally, you get greater tolerance of different views on this board. Unfortunately, empty vessels make most noise. Therefore the views of the loud and more aggressive minority have become the one the media have latched on to. Even more unfortunately, the nature of the anti-Red movement has made many of us not fully support it.
My belief is that many fans are putting up with the red because of this, also they remember playing at Skunthorpe, Shrewsbury, Crewe, Luton, Wrexham, Bury etc. We played in blue back then - but were rubbish, playing against rubbish in a ground that was rubbish. It's not like we've given up on our identity. Most of us would prefer to play in blue, and know that we will again in not so many years. We used to play in other colours many years ago. More recently we got to the FA Cup Final with Black as our first colour for every round, including the Final - so what? Twenty thousand of us still chant 'Bluebirds' every time the team comes out and at points of excitement (though there haven't been many this season) during the games. We are Bluebirds for ever, and playing in a red shirt for a few seasons to satisfy the ambitions of our current owner is something I can't get too enraged about - even though the extremists call me a plastic fan (most of them weren't born when I saw my first City game) and tell me I've sold my soul.

I think for those people it makes them feel important again, they have a need to be seen as leaders.
Tan has taken it all out of their hands and they don't like it.
I've said it before, if it wasn't for the rebrand the same people would have been calling for Malkys head after the Palace game, the football has been dire and if MM couldn't move it forward it was time for him to go.
Talk about biting the hand that feeds you, going back to blue has become a side issue in favour of getting Tan out.
If they don't like the way things are move on to somewhere else, we have never had it so good.
But some are crying in their beer because they can't have all their own way.
 
I remember watching at Ninian Park in freezing cold and pouring rain watching lower league football but also lucky enough to see us play in Europe through the welsh cup. Seeing my team play in the premiership was a dream I never expected to see, to suddenly find we have a rich owner would never happen.

Good luck to those who want us back in blue playing lower league football I served my time with all that and want to enjoy this time in the premiership and will support what it takes to keep us there.

The city is big enough to support two teams, one playing in red in the premier league and one in blue playing non league football and if there really are that many against red then they could certainly invest their money and start a club or their own then they can make all the decisions.

I think you'll find it was yellow and brown quarters under the name Riverside, so not very like Hull.

Very positive and constructive opinion you give in my view and some of which I can connect with through my own clubs experiences. We have what i can best describe as an anti Scally section that occasionally rears it's head and no matter what my view I will not be party too. If it had not been for our Chairman, quite simply I would not have a club to support, no AFC version, no MK version...nothing.

So it is a difficult line to define with tradition and keeping the balance between the two of modern and tradition alike. Although I'm quite happy to follow my team to rubbish grounds and rubbish teams, suppose because i'm used to lower league football. I want to see a return to (safe) standing in English/Welsh football, I want to see a price to suit the working man's game ie twenty is plenty. I want to see vocal support especially from the younger youth, sometimes seat numbers and 'family' stadiums erode this. However, i do not want to see a return of hooligans and I have enough differences/views with stewards, some of the yellow jacket brigade are good and some are over zealous job worth's (Wolves), so certainly don't need the minority hooligan element gaining the Daily Malice's attention to find another reason to look down on us football supporters. All very difficult balances to meet and not one solution will fit all.

But sometimes the silent protests can win through...keep with your blue attire refuse to buy the red and eventually any marketing supporting an opposite colour will soon fall dead, it just needs to be done in the right way as you suggest. Like the Gills the red was forced upon us (accepted by many)...but when a vote was cast the following season we all went back to blue. As i say, how you part with your money is what will win through at the end of the day.

While Tan is with us we will play in red and there may be further changes we don't like in the future but, as has already been said very eloquently, "We will always be blue and call ourselves Bluebirds".

Putting that to one side I come to the questions I ask everyone who I get into conversation with about Tan, "It appears he has about £140m in the club in one way or another plus bank rolling the stadium extension and new training ground, if he goes (as a number of people say they want) who is going to repay him?"

Second question, "Is there a queue of potential investors with that sort of money?"

Strange but no one has been able to answer either of those 2 points.

I don't like some of the things he has done and way he has done them but let's not forget, if he hadn't come along, Ridsdale (who actually made a significant contribution in other ways to saving the club) didn't have a pot to pi$$ in and we would have rapidly joined Pompey in their hasty decline down the leagues or worse.

We are in an uncomfortable position now and much depends on who is brave enough to replace Malky but if, come next May, we are looking at another season in the Prem and can build on this season then recent events, as unpalatable as they may seem now, may be for the best.

The point is out of nearly 28,000 fans at the game only a small group bother to come here to say what they think, mainly it is the ones who are against one thing or another.

I like the red shirt and the dragon, looks a bit odd with the little bluebird but I understand the meaning of that.

It could have been red away and home and no bluebird logo, that is what was required to get the £100 million investment...it was the reaction by fans that allowed us to play in blue away and have the bluebird logo that the owner considered.

I am only concerned about our team and how they play and getting results, nothing else matters.

As far as I am concerned some people will always go on and on about it but really it is not helping matters at all, in fact it does a lot of damage to the image of the club.

Nothing and no one will spoil my enjoyment of watching my Cardiff finally playing top flight football.

You believe that , the stadium was emptying yesterday before half time , where do you think they were going , to watch the other half of your mythical team
 
Mathew somehow from somewhere you read my post all out of context. One man was to blame for the fans walking at half time and we all know who that man is.

The mythical side is the one those complaining the most about the owner and colour change think they can have.
