Not sure what the money has to do with it. In fact when players earned less and were playing for contracts and bonuses etc. they probably had a lot more motivation than pampered millionaires who are completely detached from reality.
My hope is that we miss EL qualification (unless we get a manager who can use the squad in which case it could be good to keep consistancy and confidence up).
Look at the Old Trafford game, the one you mentioned. If you think that was decent football you have led a deprived life.
Many teams are asking that this season, we are really very poor and nothing to shout about beating. I am dreading playing City they will play good football and could end up ripping us apart with 5 or 6 goals without us giving them schoolboy penalties from non threatening situations.
