There is a huge difference between grudgingly accepting the reality of a situation in which you have no power i.e. - we're subject to one of Red Bull's abhorrent re-branding exercises. Would I still support Newcastle? Probably. - and openly supporting, even celebrating, the possibility. Now whilst I believe football needs to be more socialist in order to counter the insurmountable wealth divide that separates the super-elite from the rest of us hapless dreamers, trading something as fundamental as your identity is not something I can comprehend. After all, what is a football club in any case and what does it mean to support a club? And where does the pursuit of financial prosperity and Champions League football stop? How long before we decide we should move the club to London because it'll make us more marketable in foreign markets and it'll be easier to attract players?

100% agreed. Change the name, change the strip, yeah move the club I suppose... Shouldn't we just save them the money and bother, dissolve the club and agree to support Arsenal?

Honestly, what's the difference? Perhaps Red Bull would make us wear red and white stripes?

Newcastle United under Ashley isn't the one I started supporting and he's done his best to wrestle all the joy out of it for most of us – just clinging on by a thread at the minute!

I've said it before but football can only be levelled off and go back to 'basics' when every club is bankrolled to the tune of billions by foreign owners. Which won't happen.
This new footballing landscape where it's effectively about who spends the most on BUYING one of four champions league spots is pathetic. Making mediocre players richer in the process.

Most of us don't even want that, keep winning NOWT but with a team offering 100%, playing good football, entertained by a club that makes us proud...

Too much to ask for though folks, clearly.
