If they do take a grid drop they probably wouldn't have admitted it yet anyway, leave it as late as possible so teams can't adjust their strategies.
But this is why I think vettel is telling the truth, what advantage/disadvantage does vettel have sitting in the car longer than usual? Did he let one go or something so thats what the fans were needed??? I'm sure i've seen other cars have had that "team care" after a quali session before...
If it is an issue then is may not be something that can be fixed and just take a penalty such as an eingine and gear box. My thoughts were that the cooling in the vents may have been for the KERS radiators. Perhaps by removing the steering wheel it cuts power to the water pumps cooling the KERS? He was certianly getting a lot of info over the rado, you could see it in his eyes, and it wasn't the usual "well done Sebastien". I think he's carrying a pooched KERS a bit like Webber, perhaps RBR's only weakness of the season.
But surely the whole paddock would know of it since all channels are open, it wouldn't be a secret etc... And the media would jump all over it.
They aren't open, only last week it was mentioned that other teams only hear what is broadcast on the public TV feed. Only the stewards have full access.
Such a tight race today, a working KERS could've made such a difference. They've got three weeks to get it sorted now though, plenty of time considering they're pretty much there (about halfway judging by how long it lasts before cutting out ). They appear to be under so much strain these days, both cars on the podium and at times on the pit wall it looked as if someone had died. I think they're worried about the pace of the McLarens, or more to the point the potential pace. They weren't far away in Malaysia and there seems to be a lot of scope for development on that car, perhaps they want to streak of into the distance (points wise) before McLaren get too quick.
It's always nice to have a buffer if your leading, since it's so much harder to keep the lead then gain on it. But look at vettel compared to Button in 09, he is doing better than Jenson did with the Brawn team, yet Lewis is doing better than Vettel, just looking at the turns of getting 1st place is the main point here. Jenson/09: 1st, 1st, 3rd Vettel/11:1st, 1st, 2nd Vettel/09:RET,RET,1st Lewis/11:2nd,8th,1st If it's anything like 09 it'll be a "realistic" 2 horse race but having Lewis, Webber, Button breath down Vettel's neck after the halfway point. Hell it could just be a complete unique season and Nico walks away with it....
