I'm just putting this out there, but does anybody else think we should start every home game with a show of colours like we did against Walsall? I was at the game and the confidence it filled me with seeing a wall of red and white on all four sides of the stadium was incredible, so imagine the effect it would have on the home team first of all but also the away team! Home form is going to be really important this season and I don't think it takes a lot to stick a piece of card to every chair if it intimidates the opponents a bit and inspires the team. Some great photos of that moment...

It does cost a lot, for argument's sake; 20p per card x 25,000 fans = £5000. Although it would be a nice thing to do, can't see the club wanting to pay that much for every home game.

the thing is it only looks good when the stadium is full, it would look a bit naff with 25000 people doing it

No. Too expensive, too many oiks then throw the paper onto the pitch (or try to), too messy for the cleaners to tidy up afterwards and if you do it all the time, it totally loses the point of being special or as a way to gee everyone up.

It's too much effort and money to do for every game, plus it wouldn't feel special if we did it every single game. Save it for the important games and then it will be something to behold. As mentioned it looks naff if the stadium is half full. I went to Colchester away last season and they did the same thing with blue and white card without having a full house and it looked terrible

Wasn't that "Blue and White day" :emoticon-0102-bigsm

That was terrible because the weather was poor so the stadium was more black and a mix of rain-coat colours in the Colchester ends, Saints end was more colourful.

However a woman behind me did ask "Why don't we have those blue and white cards?"

and then you spend 90 minutes having kids screw them up and keep hitting you on the back of the head with them <grr>

All true. It's like having a pitch invasion after every game.

It will be interesting to see how attendance figures improve now that we are in the Championship. It really should be near capacity every match, if I lived anywhere in the country I would be at every game.

I'm toying with the idea of moving to Southampton and working for a year to get me out of Belfast for a bit. For the football mainly of course, but I love the city too. Clean, peaceful, then you go through Portsmouth and there's spent condoms everywhere and a visible layer of smog.

We're coming for you...
