Other than having to travel to Jackland, there was one other downside I've just noticed to the recall trip yesterday. <doh>

Checking the paperwork and the Vehicle Health Check items were all "green" passes with no "red" must do actions required, but there were a couple of "ambers". Both rear tyres are amber advisories with a thread depth of 2.4mm (legal minimum of 1.6 mm) - probably good enough for a couple of months at most but a must to change before the winter.

    Just checked them out. Pirelli (not Peroni <laugh>) 315 x 35 x R20 P Zero runflats at £330 a corner. <yikes> Thats nearly 700 Peronis.....<laugh>

I suppose 35s are ok if you're not going off road.
But if youre not going off road, why have a 4x4?

I drive my audi A4 across fields. Not long got to mam's after taking it 3 miles up a dirt track around Claerwen reservoir. Under tray git scraped a few times.
My daughter's Ford Ranger with all terain tyres is good off road.
For off off road, select low range, engage 4wd and lock the diff on the Ford 7840. Let the 6.6litre straight 6 rumble away.<cheers>

420/85R38 on the back of that. 1750 peronis a piece.<doh>

Yeah, but it's not as good as a transit van is it.
Gawd. If only I knew what I was talking about.
