Well that's true, but in terms of improving our starting eleven (at the time), they both did - so I'd view them as good signings.
Erm was Hughton's tenure actually that bad though? He led us to our highest placed PL finish in my memory and let's not forget we weren't in the relegation zone when we parted company.
He took us backwards. He forced McNally to fire him. He alone got us relegated, he alone changed us from a vibrant side to a concrete block, morbid and scared. The high league position was so lucky. He had such a brief period of success that he lived off for over a year. Even during that period the football remained awful.
