My Dad was from Liverpool although he moved south to London after the war - and he became a Gooner. Never did stack up really.

Anyway, I was brought up in Bedfordshire and since I'm older than a lot of you, my big decision to become a Red was just ahead of the the '65 FA Cup Final. It was the start of a lifelong love affair and, as it happens, a lifelong hatred of LUFC (which has its problems, now living in Yorkshire.) I can still recall the cross from Callaghan to St John to nail the game in extra time. I still have a Typhoo Tea picture of the '65 squad taking pride place on my bedroom wall. My new partner is very confused by this.

Not being local to Liverpool, I was never able to get to any games until I left home, but from aged 7 'til 14 I paid my dues watching Luton Town every game, home and away with a neighbour. But LFC has always been my one and only love - through thick and thin. And when they did the business in Istanbul it was the first time I had cried in decades. Never to be forgotten. GKRK.

Like a lot of us, it was me Dad. I think he thought that me ma was a closet Blue so one time when I was 2 he took me to Anfield (we were in the 2nd Div then) to make sure that I would be a RED. He took me for my first visit to The Kop (a cup replay against Leicester - Hunt scored in the Kop end). We were together on the Kop for our first European Cup semi - that was one of the best nights at Anfield. At lunchtime on Saturday he'd look at me, put his hand in his pocket and pull out some money saying "here, go to the match I'm sick of the sight of ye!". He really knew how to ensure that I remained a RED.

My son now lives in Australia but he's a dedicated RED. During his teenage years he used to wind me up by pretending to be a Utd supporter - the bugger!! Now he stays up to the small hours just to make sure that he catches every LFC match.

You should live in Huddersfield, they have a massive hatred for LUFC too.

I've always thought of the Leeds-Liverpool rivalry as a pretty friendly one, not a friendship but a sort of mutual respect which goes beyond the fact that both of us despise the Manc scum.

Its a similar reason why Liverpool and City fans generally get on,they have a mutual hatred of all things Manchester United.

Can't stand Man City myself, I guess the Liverpool thing goes back to the friendship between Revie and Shankly, the Anfield Kop applauding the Leeds players; I certainly feel a lot more animosity towards the blue Mancs.

Yer I agree with above. Mutual disslike! Leeds bothered me in the early 000's as you used to beat us, and a mate of mine never used to let it go!

However i'v never 'hated' Leeds, and I enjoyed you doing them over at Old Toilet a year or so back.

Just re-read and noticed you said you disslike City more? Why's that? Because of the money?

Because they're from Manchester primarily (can't stand the place or the accent), but yeah the money, the Poznan, the announcement on their website to 'inform' their new breed of plastic glory supporting fans. Horrible club - horrible city - both of which epitomize the state of modern football.

I guess if I'm watching Liverpool against someone like Wolves or Sunderland who I couldn't care less about, I want you to win. Not a second club, just a club I kind of respect and don't mind winning stuff. Makes me sound like one of these Shrewsbury fans who has a lower league team and a Premiership team, ugh. It's not like that.

Can't argue with that! They and Chelsea are the anti-christ of football, Chelsea less so now.

I can enjoy City annoying United fans though. Never been to Manchester, never want to.
