In Thai's defence, I will say, initially he was a bit hasty with his retort for which he apologised, although the apology was ignored! Dave, while I appreciate your support you did rather blunt the somewhat sharp response that was forthcoming

ILD, consider me to be a fair-weather fan or even a glory hunter if you want, I doesn't really bother me one way or the other. You have formed an opinion and it is not likely to be changed anytime soon so I wont even bother to make an attempt.
 
Saturday was a **** result and I was furious with some of the body language displayed by about 90% of our players, nothing we can do to influence what happened then and I'm sure Hughton will change something. Let's move on to Saturday lads or perhaps look at our tactical and squad issues a bit more analytically.
 
I haven't read all of the comments - the CPL doesn't do itself I hope you know! - but ho-oh-ly ****. We lose one match and all hell breaks loose! Shows how much we've been spoilt over the last three years! Please let's not jump on each other's backs like this.

Not having a go Thai, as I respect your opinion, but we are representative of the club and if any fan of an opposition club sees this article they'll think we're a club in crisis, which we most certainly are not.

In Hughton We Trust - he knows much more about football than any of us, after all.
 
The way I see this is that Saturday's result was a shock - in the truest meaning of the word. Had we lost 2-0 or similar, we would not be having all of these discussions. The other club that will have been shocked by their result is QPR (Liverpool more resignation than shock). And of course because it is the first game of the season, it is magnified ten-fold because it is taken in isolation rather than in the context of a run of games.
Fulham are an average, mid-table club - they are not Real Madrid. It is a fixture we should be quite rightly expecting to be competetive in - I think a draw was a very realistic hope.
Put it another way, if we go to Fulham expecting to lose, how does that place us against Southampton who narrowly lost at Man City?

I know certain people don't agree with this, but I do entirely, and it makes 100% sense to me <cheers>
 
Last year Everton and Swansea both won at Craven Cottage and Villa, Blackburn and West Brom all got draws.
Those 5 teams were all around us in the table and yet went to this fortress of impossibility and still got something. And there was me thinking Fulham were the footballing equivalent of the Harlem Globetrotters.
 
Nobody I'm aware of has ever said Fulham were mugs, of course they're not as they have a team full of internationals, finished above us last year and have a very impressive home record which has been mentioned and noted several times. However we shouldn't kid ourselves that they are world-beaters either as there are clearly far better teams that we will travel to this season where picking up a point will be an incredible achievement.
The fact Fulham finished bang in mid-table last year suggests they are what is called an "average" Premier League club, and if we can't even contemplate the idea of going there and coming away with something - particularly when they were lining up without Dempsey and Murphy, unarguably two of their best and most influential players of the past few season - then how the hell are we ever supposed to progress??

I should probably let this one go by now, I think you probably get the gist of what I'm on about, thankfully it appears I'm not alone!!
