Really o/t Computer help, soz

Try turning the router off for a minute or so cos it may be the router that has lost its connection

Tried that, my internet is fooked, i'm connected to next doors, got engineer coming on monday for ours, our phones are connected next door, as is our lasses work laptop, its just my laptop

if you go to "search programs and files" (am assuming windows 7) when you click on the start button and type cmd then enter you will get a black box with a prompt - type ipconfig then enter and this will give you the ip address that has been allocated to your machine. if you also look at the default gateway this should match the same on your lasses computer (the ip address should be different) the DG is the router

It says media disconnected x 3?

It says media disconnected x 3?

well its not connecting to the router at all for some reason - could be there is a limit on the number of connections to the router as I say I have limited how many devices can connect to mine. You could try disconnecting your phone then trying to connect and see if that free's up a connection - also you could disable your wireless nic then re-enable it (usually a function button {e.g F12}) see if that works

hold on - when you say it says media disconnected did you scroll up on that window?

It says windows 6.0.6002

I tried what you said above, starting to wonder if my laptop is fooked or the modem or summat?

Is your landline working?
If not it's a line fault
If it is could still be a line issue as data is less resilient than voice

Who is your provider? Could be a system fault.
If you post your provider and postcode we could check
Your IP address from ipconfig will be your routers address + a number (usually +1 for the dfirst assign +2 for the second etc. There can't be 2 connections with same IP address if there is the network manegement is suspect. As most routers use transient IP adds, rebooting would have fixed this

Haha, stop the wine and diagnose this problem man

ok - start > control panel > network and internet > Network and Sharing Centre > Change adapter settings (in the left window) > right click on the wireless adapter and select properties

then select internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/Ip....) and click on the properties button - then see if "obtain an ip address automatically" is ticked?

ok - on your own laptop go to "search programs and files" when you click on the start button and type cmd then enter you will get a black box with a prompt

then type ping www.google.com and tell me if it comes back with a "reply from.........."
