Plenty of empty seats going. This season the atmosphere has been crap everytime I've been, the fans seem to think unless we are winning 5-0 thy don't need to sing. Since relegation from the premiership the atmosphere has got worse and worse every season, the only high points being the last day escape v Sheff.utd and last seasons semi final against the fake dons.
Don't agree, the games I have been to have had some good atmospheres. I haven't been to the last few except Swindon, which was a bad atmosphere and I hear Carlisle was. I think we mostly have very good atmospheres.
Not only is the atmosphere dead but a growing contingent feel the need to sing barmy army and the Northam is full of teenage girls and grannys, it's really changed for the worse, I'd move to the Itchen but since closing blocks 1-3 the atmosphere over there is no better than the Chapel, really need to re-open the Itcem corner, sod the police.
Also when the northam were singing that it really wasn't very loud. They think they are louder than they are.
I'm in the Northam about 3/4 of the way up, and haveto admit some people around me never try and encourage the team, just shout abuse at them. It doesn't really help when you have the kingsland corner singing at the same time with some songs awfully out of time.
What the Northam need is a Chief Cheerleader to co-ordinate the chants, something like Carlisles "Elvis" he managed to get his crowd rocking even when they were three down.
I sit in Chapel because you get a lot less nobs getting plastered. I have a few drinks before the game and I may get tipsy but I don't drink at the ground. 1) The beer is flat and horrible 2) Would rather watch the game. I maybe guilty getting up and going to the toilet though. It's been awhile since I have gone to a game but I remember the atmosphere being a bit tentative. I think it's down to what saints turn up. If we are playing well the atmosphere is always good.
i'm going to my 1st game in st marys in a few weeks against bristol rovers because away games are usually easier for me to get but im a bit worried about all this talk about the atmoshere....my ticket is in northam, is that a good or bad thing?! I'd preferrably like to be standing and singing!
Don't worry mate I only started this thread because I felt the atmosphere was flat at that game last Saturday. Before then all the other games I have been to have had a great atmosphere!!! If you want to stand and sing then yes the northam is the place to be.
Nice one...Any away game ive been to has been great so im hoping for more of the same....and a victory of course!!
